Gwen has spent the past few years learning zippy and her quirks and buttons and they have improved every show. This was one of their best weeks and it was their first Richwood, big deal for zippy because she typically isn’t a fan of new things and riding outside but she impressed us and was on her best behavior ! Watching them become a team the last few years has been lovely and we can’t wait to keep seeing them improve!

We will have a small paint and sip afterwards for anyone that would like to stick around. We will be painting jumps for our arena, this will be a byob and will not begin until everyone is done handling horses to ensure safety.

Cheyenne and Turk (Double Tee Turk)

Cheyenne worked hard all year learning Turk, they were able to put all the pieces together throughout the year and ended out their season on the best note they could! We can’t wait to watch Cheyenne continue to grow as a rider !

Angel and Harlee (Private Invitation)

Senior Versatility Reserve Champion 🥳

They put some of their best rides in for this and both had lots of progress throughout the week! They haven’t spent too much time getting to know each other, but in their time they learned patience and how to work as a team and brush off the little stuff. Their only goal this week was just good rides and learning to take a deep breath and they did the thing and walked away reserve champions! We are proud of our once baby becoming a great little mare and of angel for pushing through even when it’s hard.

Michaela and Wario (Top Secret)

These two won Jr. Contesting Highpiont 🥳

They had some ups and downs this week, sometimes ponies just like to be naughty and wario chose that route for a couple days 🤣
Nonetheless through frustrations and all they worked it out and finished strong at the end of the week with contesting!

These guys have worked to learn each other all year and make a great pair, congratulations Michaela!

Few days late to this but will be posting richwood updates tonight !

First up is Ava and Hampton (A Firey Charm Cof ) and they killed it this year🥳

These wins for them were particularly special as Ava has only been riding Hampton for a few weeks. Ava was Briggs’s lease kid this year and he got hurt the day he was supposed to take her to her first state fair. She showed up for him though and spent the next week after that taking care of him everyday and spoiling him, while still supporting our girls at fair and keeping her spirits up. Unfortunately due to our boys passing she was out a horse, one of our girls headed off to college and brought Hampton to us for our lesson program before she left. We talked to the officials and they approved her to go to richwood with him, we are so proud of this kid for not giving up on horses and putting her best foot forward. Her and Hampton tried their hearts out this week and it shows.
We did keep his mom in Wyoming updated via FaceTime this week and she was their biggest fan and cheerleader!

Versatility was rained out this morning and moved to tomorrow but we are crossing fingers for speed tonight 🤞🏼

My Little Dolly
"Dolly"
1991-2026

Today we said goodbye to one of the sweetest horses on the planet. Many of the newer lesson students and boarders may not know who Dolly was, but she was one of the OG lesson horses from the old farm. Dolly was a crucial part of the lesson program and camps, giving many timid riders a confidence boost with her calm, eager to please demeanor. When she wasn't working, Dolly absolutely LOVED to cuddle. She loved any attention she could get and she didn't care who she got it from. Dolly may have been sweet, but she could also be sassy and she had some s***k to her.

Dolly lived out her first few years of retirement alongside her donkey friend Sydney, and when the circumstances changed she came home to our retirement barn where she was reunited with her old pasture mate Ophelia. They were always referred to as "the girls" when they were at the barn so it was nice getting to see them spend their glory years together.

Thank you to Dr. Morgan Kessler for coming to the rescue and giving Dolly a dignified end. Thank you to Alex Beard with Terra Firma for picking up Dolly and ensuring that she was shown respect, even in death.
