Angry Dave shows a few of his building tips to make your new bike really ride up to its optimum performance for you. Bike factories literally just put all the parts in the box for you. To REALLY build it, you wind up taking most of it back apart to grease and adjust.

It’s a lot of extra work but it makes a HUGE difference in how it rides and performs now and way down the road.

Follow along as I recreate my race bike from the early to mid 80’s with a LOT of the actual original parts from that bike! It was like being 14/15 years old again just looking at it….. but it rides EXACTLY like I remember!!

Follow along as I rebuild an almost exact replica of my original chrome Schwinn The Sting using as many of the ACTUAL parts off the original bike before the frame cracked.
The wheels are my original Bullseye hubs and Araya 7X rims, the cranks are the actual Redline 401 Flight cranks, original brake lever, headset, Pro Neck stem, Hutch Beartrap pedals with new Bullseye cages, Schwinn/Suntour seatpost clamp, GT handlebars round out all the OG parts and the rest are reproduction, but the same as what I ran on the original bike. Oakley grips, Dia•Compe MX1000 brake, Kashimax Aero seat, Flite Checkered padset (to match my Vans!), and Tioga Comp III tires big n little to finish the build.

Put my CW Phaze One in the stand for some quick parts hanging. Installed the Tange sealed bearing headset, DK XXL stem, and got the bottom bracket installed ready for the Redline Flight cranks! More to come!

Got a chance to go do a real photo shoot. Took my two 1981 Schwinn The Stings to the cliffs above the Big Rock Quarry pumptrack and got some pretty cool glamour shots with my best friend Brandie Maldanado who took some of these stellar shots as well!

Finished the ‘81 Sting project! This is as close to how I raced my Chrome Sting before I cracked the frame, using as many of my original race parts from that bike!

Who’s this Dave fella and why’s he a grown man playing with kid’s bikes?
To answer that, here’s a few pics of me riding thru the years… aaaall the way back to ‘82 when I got my first real BMX bike! Riding a bike just clicked for me. I was never the fastest, but I wasn’t the slowest either. I had fun and still do when I’m on a bike. I still enjoy putting them together and fine tuning them almost as much as riding them!
More builds coming soon! 😎
