Just a reminder to our parents, coaches, and volunteers!

RYA partners with the North Richland Hills Parks and Recreation Department to provide youth sports in NRH. The Parks & Rec Department has installed Perry Weather monitors at Richfield, Cross Timbers, and Walker's Creek Parks where we operate several fields.

The monitors serve two purposes:

1. They monitor lightning within 10 miles. When there is a lightning strike within 10 miles of the park, a timer will start counting down from 30 minutes and the fields, dugouts must be cleared until the area has been lightning-free for at least 30-minutes. There will be audible alerts at the park and flashing yellow lights on the monitor at each location.

2. The monitors also measure the WBGT of each park. This temperature takes into account a variety of elements - the actual temperature, cloud cover, wind, and other factors to generate a different WBGT number. If this number is between 90.0-92.0, practices must be limited to 1-hour. If the number exceeds 92.1+, no practices/games may occur.

With regards to WBGT, we understand that this temperature can vary from minute-to-minute. For this reason, we do allow some discretion for coaches to pause practice and hold teams in a shaded area while monitoring the WBGT to see if it will fall back below acceptable means.

The WBGT is the measurement tool that all Texas schools have begun using under Texas UIL policies and the primary goal is player safety. If you have questions about these policies, please feel free to send us a message and we'll try and address any questions you may have.

Today's the last day for the Early Registration discount for RYA Baseball and RYA Softball!

RYA Baseball offers coed rec baseball programs for ages 3-14. Ages are determined by a player's age as of May 1, 2027. All teams get fielded practices at Richfield and Cross Timbers Parks in NRH. Games are primarily played at Richfield Park and older age divisions may interlock with DFW Interlock for some games during the season. Select and Premier Baseball programs are available through the Richland Kings Baseball program - see website for details.

RYA Softball offers girls rec softball programs for ages 5-16. Ages are determined by a player's age as of September 1, 2026. All teams get fielded practices at Walker's Creek Park in NRH. Games for 6U, 8U, 10U-C are played at Walker's Creek or Colleyville City Park. 10U-K (advanced rec), 12U, and 14U/16U games will be played at Walker's Creek Park and other DFW Mid-Cities Interlock fields. Registration for fall baseball and softball at RYA is now open! Get your players registered today to take advantage of the early registration discount! Discounts also available for families who register 3+ players within the same household.

RYA Baseball has coed programs for players between the ages of 3-14. Practices available for all teams at Richfield and Cross Timbers Parks in NRH. Games are primarily played at Richfield and Cross Timbers Parks, but older divisions may play some games at our interlock partners' fields.

There are several Select Baseball tryouts coming up with Richland Kings Baseball and Richland Hawks programs - age divisions available for Fall 2026 include 16U, 14U AAA, 14U AA, 12U AA, 10U AA, 9U AA, and 8U AA. Checkout the website for more details.

RYA Softball has programs for girls between 5-15 available for this fall. Practices available for all teams at Walker's Creek Park in NRH. Games for 6U, 8U, and 10U Rec will be between Walker's Creek and Colleyville City Parks. Games for 10U Advanced, 12U, and 15U will be at Walker's Creek Park or another DFW Mid-Cities Interlock field.

There is one Advanced Rec Softball team for the fall with the RYA Lady Hawks Softball program. Tryouts for the 10U Advanced Rec team will be coming up in July and tryouts information is available at the website.
