25 YEARS LATER… WE REMEMBER. 🇺🇸🕊️
There are some moments in history that are impossible to fully put into words. September 11, 2001 was one of them—a day that changed our nation and left an imprint on the hearts of millions.
For 50 years, Metta Rose Dance Academy has believed in the power of dance to do more than entertain. Dance can tell stories, preserve memories, express emotions, and connect us to something greater than ourselves.
During our 50th Anniversary Production this past June, our Adult Ballet class had the honor of performing a special piece dedicated to the lives, stories, and heroes of September 11.
The dancers began with “Lead Us Out of the Night” from Come From Away, inspired by the true story of the people of Gander, Newfoundland, who welcomed thousands of stranded travelers into their community following the attacks. The piece then transitioned into “Skyscrapers Fall,” a moving tribute to the lives forever changed that day.
It was more than a dance.
It was a moment of remembrance.
A moment to honor the 2,977 lives lost.
A moment to recognize the first responders and everyday heroes who ran toward danger.
A moment to remember the families and communities forever changed.
And a moment to remember the compassion, courage, kindness, and unity that emerged in the midst of unimaginable tragedy.
Throughout MRDA’s history, our dancers have performed many pieces that have made us laugh, cry, reflect, and feel deeply. These are the performances that remind us just how powerful dance can be.
Because sometimes, words aren’t enough.
Sometimes, we dance.
Today, on the 25th anniversary of September 11, we pause to remember all those who were lost, all those who served, all those whose lives were forever changed, and the stories that must never be forgotten.
🇺🇸 September 11, 2001 — 25 years later, forever in our hearts.
We remember. We honor. We will never forget. 🕊️
