Happy birthday, ! You are so kind, smart, loving, and generous, and we love you so much! We celebrate you today and everyday, and wish you a lifetime of God’s blessings. ❤️
Today, I watched video he recorded on his last birthday, his 48th birthday, and I wept.
He was thin, frail, and yet so clear eyed and spoke with such truth that I felt it deep in my soul.
As he reflected on who he was beyond the identities he’s taken on during his life, he sat in meditation and heard that he was someone who was worthy of God’s love, and therefore he was worthy of his own.
He didn’t share this message with anger, or self-pity, he shared it to provide hope for others so they may know that they are worthy of love, too.
So, I was reminded again to live each day as if it is the first and last day.
With wonder and awe, and with deep reverence and gratitude.
To experience deep love and joy, and then share that generously with others.
I remember that everyday really is a gift, and that tomorrow is not promised for any of us.
Yes, do great work. Be passionate about what you do.
Have fun. Spread joy.
And also, question how you spend every minute of your day.
Give yourself permission to be present in your own life and experience it fully without apology.
Say thank you continuously.
Stop sweating the small things.
Show up for your loved ones and yourself.
Because it’s a short ride.
What would you do differently if you truly believed tomorrow wasn’t promised?
Presence doesn’t come naturally to most of us.
We’ve spent years being rewarded for doing, achieving, and pushing through.
So when we try to slow down, it can feel... awkward.
Uncomfortable. Even pointless.
Your mind wanders. You wonder if you’re doing it wrong. You feel nothing and assume it’s not working.
But here’s what I’ve learned:
Presence isn’t something you master.
It’s something you return to.
Again. And again.
Not perfectly. Not gracefully.
Just honestly.
The practice isn’t about getting still.
It’s about staying — even when it’s uncomfortable.
Staying with yourself.
Staying with what’s true.
That’s where the trust gets built.

Returning is the practice.
As January winds down, I’m resisting the urge to add more.
More goals. More content. More input.
I’ve realized that insight without integration is just noise.
You can read the book.
Listen to the podcast.
Go to the workshop.
And still return to the same patterns by Monday.
Not because you didn’t mean it.
But because you didn’t give your nervous system time to absorb it.
Integration looks like:
→ Pausing before you say yes
→ Noticing the tightness before you override it
→ Choosing one small boundary and holding it
→ Protecting space to think, not just to do
So here’s a different kind of question:
What did you learn about yourself this month that you don’t want to forget?
Not what you accomplished.
Not what you produced.
What you noticed.
Because what you notice… is what you can change.

If you’ve been feeling stuck or unclear, pause before judging yourself.
Often, the body is asking for safety before expansion.
Faith doesn’t rush us into the future.
It roots us in the present.
This Lantern Note is a reminder that regulation comes before vision, and safety is not a detour, it’s the doorway.
Comment ✨ and I’ll share this week’s full Lantern Note with you.

It’s a new year.
And before you add goals, intentions, or plans…
before you decide what needs to grow or expand…
pause.
So many of us move into January asking,
What more can I do?
Rarely do we ask,
What am I ready to set down?
Years ago, I stepped into a role I thought I wanted badly.
On paper, it looked like success.
Bigger scope. More responsibility. Wider impact.
But in my body?
I felt tight. Disconnected. Anxious.
That experience taught me something I still return to every January:
Burnout doesn’t come from a lack of ambition.
It comes from continuing to carry what no longer fits.
We don’t just need new goals.
We need space.
Space created by releasing:
• expectations that no longer belong to us
• identities we’ve outgrown
• responsibilities we’re holding out of habit or fear
• definitions of success that once served us, but don’t anymore
New blessings need room to land.
And room isn’t made by adding more,
but by gently asking what we no longer have to carry.
So today, instead of asking
What should I do this year?
Try asking:
What am I ready to set down?
What am I being invited to release so something truer can emerge?
January doesn’t need pressure.
It needs honesty.
It needs tenderness.
It needs alignment.

December 31 feels quieter than it used to.
Not rushed.
Not loud.
Not full of resolutions yet.
More like a pause between breaths.
This year taught me a lot about what doesn’t work anymore for me.
The pace.
The pressure.
The way we keep adding without first releasing.
The extra commitment that felt important but drained me.
The “yes” I said out of obligation, not alignment.
Before we wake up tomorrow to 2026, I’m sitting with one simple question:
What am I ready to leave behind so there’s space for what’s next?
Taking my time to reflect.
To clear out my physical and emotional spaces.
Ready to shift energy before assuming more.
I’m curious if you’re feeling the same.
What are you gently setting down as this year closes?
What are you releasing so you can make room for more spacious and magic?
