Ellison, Wightstman crews are golden
Sprinkles turned into sunshine June 16, and the Bart “Don’t Forget to Freeze the CO2” Ellison and Bryce “Always the Right Man” Wrightsman teams found gold at the end of the rainbow. Each scored an evening’s best 28 points.

The aforementioned Wrightsman and Greg “Club Up When I Tell You” Daeger pocketed skins with birdies on No. 11 and 12, respectively. David “Super Southpaw” Shaw drew the bind.

Kelley trio gets pumped up
Irrigation pumps were working June 9 which might have helped propel the Joe “Champions Pointe Bound” Kelley team to 30 points. Not only was that the week’s top score but also the season’s best.
And not only were greens dampened but so was the Doug “U of L-IU Bipolar” Schroeder trio which was all wet in posting the b***y prize number of 16.
A.J. “All Tatted Up” Spicer and Ed “Front Tees Fan” Whitaker cashed skins with birdies on Nos. 4 and 5, respectively. Marty “Meet Me at the Boneyard” Stiening drew the blind.
Baron “Atop Hayden Pike’s Peak” Wilder and Dave “Just Like Harold Stassen” Kopitzke took closest-to-the-pin dough on Nos. 2 and 4, respectively.
Here are the standings after five weeks (points, which are based on Stableford best-ball scoring, are accumulated each week) with updated handicaps in parentheses. Teams are listed by captains’ names.

Wasson trio soars
Fairways were fabulous, greens were gorgeous, sand was serene, water was wonderful, rough was robust and greens were gorgeous for golfers in league play June 2.
No trio was more fantastic this week than the Larry “Frequent Palmetto State Visitor” Wasson crew in scoring an evening’s high 28 points. The Joe “Wherefore Art Thou, Joemeo?” Kelley team went the opposite direction, taking the b***y prize with a paltry 12 points.
Five true skins went to Ed “Rooting for Both Honda and Chevy” Whitaker, Jeff “Brickyard Baby” O’Connor, Dave “Suction Cup Putter Man” Snellenberger, Joey “From Super Sub to Righteous Regular” Napier and Darrel “My Livewell is Never Barren at Barren River Lake” Kemmerer with birdies on Nos. 1, 3, 5, 7 and 8, respectively. The aforementioned Wasson drew the blind.
Greg “Danger High Voltage” Daeger and Matt “Back to the Big Boy Tees” Stidham garnered closest-to-the-pin dough on Nos. 2 and 4, respectively.

Shaw, Johnson crews dazzle on May 12
St. Annes Golf Course has some similarities with Aronimink Golf Club, course architects Brent Hanger and Greg Bishop have a touch of Donald Ross in them and, at least for one evening, golfers Josh Shaw, Davey Shaw and Tom Speer can be compared with Rory McIlroy, Akshay Bhatia and Scottie Scheffler.
The Shaw trio shot a dazzling 2-under par 33 and, boosted by its 3 handicap, racked up 28 points in league play. The Eric “This Donkey King Doesn’t Play Donkey Kong” Johnson team also scored 28 points to share top honors for the week.
In stark contrast, the Matt “Who Says All Politics Is Local?” York crew struggled mightily and was saddled with the night’s b***y prize after limping in with a paltry 13 points.
Larry “A Good 6-Hole Walk Spoiled” Foga and Ron “Muscatatuck Country Club’s G.O.A.T.” Sanders took skins with birdies on No. 3 and 8, respectively. Darrel “No Sand in My Bag (Wink)” Kemmerer drew the blind.
Corey “Chuckholes Aren’t Us” O’Mara and John “Betting on Katherine Legge to Win the 500” Bright cashed in with closest-to-the-pin shots on the par-3 Nos. 2 and 4, respectively.

Wind is the friend for 3 trios
The wind was the friend for at least three teams during April 21 play.
The Bill “Proud USGA Member” Browning, George “Can’t Wait for Another Bills Collapse” Rivera and Doug “Half IU Fan” Schroeder teams took top honors for the evening’s best scores with 25 points apiece.
In stark contrast, the gusty winds nearly swept away the Jack “Boo and Scarlett’s Master“ Kelley crew which came in with a paltry 11 points.
Brett “New Kid on the Block” Silvey and Joe “Boo and Scarlett’s best friend” Kelley collected skins with birdies on Nos. 12 and 15, respectively. Matt “Good Riddance Hubert Davis” York drew the blind.
Ron “Lake Cumberland Memories” Sanders and Darren “Let’s Talk Politics” Heavern cashed in with closest-to-the-pin shots on Nos. 11 and 13, respectively.

Starkey team leads way in season openers
League golfers enjoyed the first matches of 2026 on the newly upgraded links April 14.
The Tony “Rockwood RVs Rule” Starkey trio took full advantage of the lovely conditions to tally a week’s best 27 points.
The evening was not so great, however, for the Bart “Dry Ice is the Best Ice” Ellison and Rob “Rebuild, Retrofit, Remanufacture, Repair” Keener crews, which mustered only 12 points apiece to share the b***y prize.
Corey “You Bet Your Asphalt” O’Mara pocketed the day’s lone true skin with a birdie on No. 6. Jerrod “Drink More Milk” Kelley drew the blind.
George “Good Riddance Coach McDermott” Rivera and the aforementioned Starkey won closest-to-the-pin b***y on Nos. 2 and 4, respectively.
Here are the standings after one week of play (points, which are based on Stableford best-ball scoring, are accumulated each week) with handicaps in parentheses. Teams are listed by captains’ names.
