Meet our sporty, spectacular leader, Meri! 💪

A former college basketball player, Northbrook Park District Superintendent of Athletics and Fitness Meri Shea is passionate about providing the highest-quality fitness and athletics opportunities to the community.

Meri has an undergraduate degree in parks and recreation administration with a minor in business, and a master’s degree in parks and recreation administration, both from Illinois State University.

She was hired by the Park District in 2017 and has held a variety of supervisory roles over the years.

TPAC holds a special place in Meri's heart, because she was a part of the exciting process of designing and building the facility before it opened in 2021. If you see Meri around, be sure to say hi! 👋🏀

A new BODYPUMP release launches this week! 💪 Are you ready?

BODYPUMP lets you get a total body workout using light to moderate weights with lots of repetition — four times a week here at TPAC! Members can bring a friend for free and there will be snacks.

Our members make our day! 🙌 The friendly atmosphere is what customer service rep Paul Luz most enjoys about working at TPAC.

“The biggest thing in customer service is to be able to get along with people,” he says.

Born in the Philippines, Paul was 2 years old when his family moved to Niles. He graduated with a major in English and a minor in art from the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater, then embarked on a 20-year career with Pioneer Press, working his way up from paginator to editor and manager for news page design.

He lost his job after the newspaper group was bought by the Chicago Tribune. He went on to work as enrollment coordinator for Pearson Education for four years, then as a copywriter for The Bradford Exchange for three years.

A resident of Glenview, Paul loves to go on walks at Techny Prairie Park and Fields with Eliza, his 11-year-old Patterdale Terrier Lab mix.

Working for the Northbrook Park District is a family affair for Paul: his child Juno, a student at Oakton Community College, works as a costume stitcher for Northbrook Theatre.

We're so glad to have Paul on our team — make sure to say hi next time you see him at TPAC! 💚
