Endurance sports are exciting because there is always the opportunity of a “first time” or the more elusive “fastest time”, but the opportunity ALWAYS exists. You have to believe that it exists (or it doesn’t). You have to work for it. Both are always hard faught, and wrought with sweat, tears, and sometimes even blood, and ALWAYS sacrifice. Digging deep, suffering, showing up in the cold when you’re tired, those are all “easy” compared to the SACRIFICE required to achieve such audacious goals. And this week we celebrate athletes who had first times and fastest times. Inspire Nation - you make us proud!

We all have events that trigger cathartic memories where we know exactly where we are and what we are doing. Who was with us. How we felt. Our first finish lines, from 5k’s to Ironmans, and from “just finish” to podiums can be that way.

Of course, for most of us, September 11th is one of these events. It’s a day that makes us feel empathy, sympathy, sadness, and yet also very proud at the same time. Proud of the community and heroism that rises to the top during trials like that.

This week we have athletes racing to remember, athletes racing to honor, and all of our athletes racing because we are lucky enough to have that opportunity. We will always remember and we will always honor the victims of 9/11. Today, I hope everyone reading this recognizes how lucky you are to be alive. Seize the day. Carpe diem!

This Winning Wednesday is dedicated to community.

Training, racing, self-improvement: it is all better done with a friend.

Our challenge to you is to invite someone along with you to your next session. The power of the invite is how most of us get our start in these sports. So extend a formal, in person invitation to a friend, follow up with a reminder, and see if you can build up your tribe to be even bigger and better.

Today we pause to honor Labor Day—a celebration of the dedication, grit, and perseverance of the workers who built and continue to sustain our communities. 💪

Endurance athletes know this spirit well:

* Commitment: showing up day after day, even when it’s hard.
* Work ethic: putting in the miles, reps, and hours behind the scenes.
* Resilience: pushing through challenges to reach the finish line.

Whether it’s on the job or out on the course, progress is built the same way: through steady effort, consistency, and heart.

Here’s to celebrating the workers, the athletes, and the everyday heroes who embody what Labor Day is all about. 🇺🇸

🏅 MEDAL MONDAY: PROGRESS > PERFECTION

Sometimes the workout doesn’t go exactly as planned.

Maybe you’re short on time. Maybe you’re tired. Maybe you have to modify the workout.

Do it anyway.

Getting 30 minutes in instead of 60 is better than doing nothing.
An imperfect workout is still a workout.

The same is true in the water.

Your swim form doesn’t have to be perfect.
It just needs to be better than it was yesterday.

One small improvement.
One better stroke.
One more efficient lap.

Because progress isn’t about being perfect.

It’s about getting better. 🏊‍♂️💪

Don’t let perfect become the enemy of better.

Medal Monday - embrace the uncertainty.

Did you know that the day Roger Banister broke the 4 minute barrier in the mile that he didn’t really feel like running that day? He was unsure of the conditions, and his fitness. He felt it had to be perfect or he couldn’t break 4. But after much agonizing and debate he showed up any way, and the rest is history…

Sometimes you have to make room for belief. You have to trust in the work, and process, and in yourself, and allow for an unexpected (but earned) result to occur. This week Inspire Nation showed up and believed, and did the unexpected. We are proud of each one of you. Big leaps were made. LFG!

Sometimes showing up and simply toeing the start line is the victory. Overcoming seeming insurmountable odds, battling back illness and injury, and simply “finding a way” is the win we’ve been seeking.

Every athlete faces obstacles. Some more than others, but we can all agree that getting to the start, and having the opportunity to race is a victory worth celebrating.

This week, we are celebrating all of our athletes getting to the startling line whether today, tomorrow, or beyond. You’ve earned this. LFG!
