Sixteen years, 13 national championships, and hundreds of River Rats who first learned to row from her. Thank you to Golden Oars for including Coach Liz among rowing's legendary women coaches. 💚
They coached, competed, organized, fought for a seat in the boat and then fought for a bigger one. They pushed the sport forward when it wasn't easy, and they still do it every day, on the water and behind the scenes. To every woman in rowing, past and present: thank you.
This post honors a few of the coaches who carried that legacy:
Louise Kingsley, Ellen Randell, Michelle Darvill, Monica Hilcu, Lucy Pocock, Courtney Moeller, Kate Maloney, Linda Muri, Becky Robinson, Lori Dauphiny, Sandy Armstrong, Yaz Farooq, Liz Trond, Holly Hatton, Ana Tamas Knecht, Sandra Kirby, Liz O'Leary, Kim Cupini, Emma Benany, Ernestine Bayer, Holly Metcalf, Jan Harville, Carie Graves and Penny Chuter.
This list is missing a lot of names. Rowing has far more remarkable women than one image can hold, so Part 2 is coming, built from your suggestions. 👇
Who should be in it? Drop her name in the comments and tell us why she belongs. And mention your favorite from this list.
