Getting a little closer to 405 with this 385 close grip, paused, single. Definitely misgrooved on the left side and the bar got out in front.

I don’t know if I will ever bench 500 again, for 405 is going down in the very near future if I can survive dumb reps like this at that weight.

So even though I messed that particular rep up badly, it is an indicator of things to come

Last Saturday I graduated from my Master’s Program in Clinical Mental Health. My baby is NOT supposed to be on stage, but .alsruhe and I were able to smuggle her up there.

I tell the hilarious story in my latest YouTube video that I just released. I also share why I chose clinical mental health and explain my decision process for starting a new career at 46 years old. Check it out if you are interested!

The most frustrating thing I have encountered about living with a proximal bicep tear—aside from it greatly limiting the amount you can press—it that my rack positions fail at a high enough weight. On the front squat, Zercher squat, log press or circus dumbbell, my right arm ( the side with the tear) always fails way before my left does.

As you can see at this 405 front squat, it wasn’t my legs, core or upper back that failed, my right arm just cannot seem to sustain the position.

It has definitely improved, so I am hopeful that I can continue to move up in weight, but missing this weight because it won’t stay on my shoulder is…frustrating.

Will hopefully nail this weight next time though

6 rounds of this sandbag series was my warm up for yesterday’s deadlift testing. Next time you are trying to pull something heavy, do something explosive prior and see if the pulls don’t go better for you.

NEW (current not lifetime) Deadlift of 650 lbs/ 295 Kg, which is 2.7x my bodyweight.

I also just released my latest YouTube video where I give you 10 deadlift essentials the EVERYONE SHOULD know! Definitely check it out if you are not pulling what you would like to because I can just about guarantee that if you improve the things I talk about in the video, your deadlift will go up.

This is my current PR of 375. My lifetime PR is 505 so most people will look at this and yawn thinking it isn’t interesting….but to me it is everything because this time last year, due to sickness and injury, bench 275 was a pipe dream I never thought I would ever see again.

Hitting 100lbs over that is a win everyday in my book and is an indicator of where things are headed.

Feeling blessed and motivated.

Oh and strict rows are coming along as well.
