Since the recent time change, there's more light; in fact, as of the solstice Monday, we start to turn to the light even more. To celebrate this, I'm happy to announce that starting April 4th, the Tuesday and Thursday prenatal class will shift to a 75 minute format rather than 60. MORE YOGA! Both the livestream class and the in-studio class will be scheduled from 5:30 - 6:45. You're welcome! Sign up early and frequently.

This Sunday, May 16th at 1pm! Barefoot Movement has a great workshop: Making Technology Work for You - Making the Most of Practicing Yoga in the Age of Zoom w/ Tako Oda
It's been a year since many of us started practicing yoga online, and it's time to shift from survival mode to thrive mode! Join Tako Oda, recipient of a Course Redesign Grant from Mills College to adapt yoga instruction online, to find out not only how to make-do-with, but make-the-most-of cutting edge technology to support your yoga practice! Topics will include:
Using Zoom settings to adapt to your personal learning style
Surprising advantages of practicing yoga online
Understanding how online practice is different from in-person practice, and how to navigate the difference
Optimize your environment/settings to receive more useful feedback from your teachers
Yogic practices for avoiding "Zoom fatigue"

It was heartbreaking to learn that Barefoot Movement, where I did my yoga teacher training in 2009 and taught and practiced for years, will be leaving this special space in downtown Oakland that so many helped built and create, but I am sure the community will live on. I still remember the early days when it was a single room when class passes were tracked on a white board and pieces of paper! Everyone who crossed paths here, myself included, has grown tremendously in this past 11 years, and in large part due to this beautiful, welcoming, come-as-you-are community. I mourn for small businesses, Oakland, and all the other communities that are being reshaped by this pandemic.

Partner Prenatal Yoga is a practice for expectant parents and a birth partner. The class focuses on side-by-side yoga poses and partner yoga poses. The poses help alleviate pregnancy discomforts and some poses can also be used during labor. This practice explores breath awareness, meditation, and comfort measures for labor. Your partner will also learn easy massage techniques that will support relaxation during pregnancy and labor.
Cost: $75/couple

Family yoga is Sunday 4-5pm, live streaming with zoom and led by Liz Shakti! You must Preregister for the class at least 30 minutes in advance and then the entire family can participate! Clear the floor space and get moving with the kids! Head to our site for details.

Memberships and class packs are honored here, as are you. 🙏🏾 Be sure to download the Zoom app on your phone or laptop and meet your favorite teacher in class this week! Be sure to register for the class no less than 30 minutes before, and we’ll email you a link and password to your class 15 minutes before it meets.(Please make sure that you have both an accurate email address in your account with us as well as a credit card saved within your account.) Register early and come prepared with your mat set out and whatever means for props you have in the house.
