Girls are twice as likely to drop out of sports than boys by age 14, with roughly 45% to over 60% of girls quitting by their mid-teens.

Girls rugby is rapidly growing and we take pride in building a safe and comfortable environment for our girls to thrive and be confident within.

This past weekend Oakland Ikuna Rugby historically hosted all Girls High School CLUB rugby tournament style matches!! Well into our third season and this was a first for us. Bringing so many young women from different parts of the town and their families together to finally have a HOME game. An Oakland centered game right in the heart of our Community at Castlemont Highschool. As we continue to advocate and celebrate our athletes, we are proud to say this is the first of many to come.

Thank you to our sister clubs that joined us; Berkeley, Liberty, & Chico for making this day such a special experience.

Next on our Congratulatory Season we would like you all to meet Adriana Carlos. You’ll find our fearless captain all over the rugby pitch ready to defend and attack off the line. Adriana has ALL STAR experience and is a versatile player. Bringing a lot of positive energy, confidence and is definitely a impactful support to our team this year. She is looking forward to a bright future of big opportunities a head and we cannot wait to see where you continue your career and education, Adriana!

Oakland Ikuna Rugby back with another season of Celebrating our Athletes, their achievements and their future goals!

Another one of our girls who’s killing it with us is Ruby Hill!!! She has found her passion for the game, carrying into her 4th season. Her experience, speed, and confidence makes her a triple threat. Ruby’s consistency and determination has been a contagious factor to her team. She is loving the game and hopes to continue playing at the collegiate level and beyond. She’s looking forward to furthering her education and rugby career.
