Sorry I haven't been super responsive. Taking what will likely be my last vacation for a very long time. Thank you for your patience. The surf has been far from amazing, but the time with my friends has been wild and weird and absolutely priceless. Lots of mixed emotions about the future of BSF aka Bay Area Barbell (aka Daddys aka Rat Tail Athletics lol), but very much looking forward to what comes next.

APPRECIATION POST! I wanted to say a HUGE THANK YOU to the folks that have been so supportive over the last 2 years. It has been a fu***ng wild ride. You are truly the FOUNDING MEMBERS (You already know there will be amazing shirts made just for you, famπŸ€ 🀣)! You all are literally the reason I want to and am now able to open my own gym and continue to cultivate this amazing ( lol) πŸ‹β€ You could spend your time and money anywhere and you choose to continue investing in our future gym and community space. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all my 1:1 and small group clients and friends. We are building something incredible and it's all because of you. We are almost there. This gym is going to be so fu***ng dope, because YOU ALL are so fu***ng dope. And you can fu***ng bet we are gunna have sickest potlucks and EVERY DAY will be Taco Tuesday hahaha. Love y'all. For real.

AND I couldn't possibly make an appreciation post without mentioning the hardworking kickass trainers and owners of and have been pivotal in facilitating the continuation of our group classes and the momentum we've been building over the last few months. Their gym is the best in the bay and it's an honor to call y'all friends. If you're looking for an amazing Strength and Conditioning gym in Oakland, check these folks out. Join us every Saturday at 10am for a donation based outdoor conditioning workout! is an hour long group fitness routine that changes weekly so you're never bored. Bring your own yoga mat, DB or KB, and jump rope. If you don't have any weights, you can use ours!

Our September raised $250 for the California Wildfire Relief Fund. Thank you to everyone who donated! Stay tuned for more info on October's fundraiser.

After our powerlifting meet hosted by the lovely .official we are going back to hypertrophy to get fu**in beefy and work on weaknesses. Time to clean up the deadlift and get a jacked back. We are pulling out all the stops for maximizing isometric core and back strength. Get ready, T! You got hella Good Mornings, RDLs, and a ton of "fun" GHD accessories is your immediate future. Thanks to everyone that turned out for the to help raise money for the 2021 California Wildfure Relief Fund! Also thanks to the people that didn't workout, but donated anyway. We have inversion/Handstand variation practice on the menu at today so I had to make sure I still had something to show from the amazing gymnastics seminar I took with my old coach

They aren't the prettiest or most efficient HSPU I've ever done, but after gaining 20lbs and not doing much of anything in the way of gymnastics (or CrossFit, for that matter) for the last 9 months, I'll take it!

The Gymnastics Course for Coaches I took with Alex LaChance was hands down the best, most comprehensive, organized, and thoughtful coaching courses I've ever taken. If you have the opportunity to work 1:1 with her or in a seminar she leads, TAKE IT! You won't regret it. She isn't just an incredible athlete. She's also a rock star coach and breaks things down in a way that is accessible and easy to understand and practice. 10/10 would recommend β€πŸ€ΈπŸ€Έβ€β™€οΈπŸ€Έβ€β™‚οΈβ€

Sara's just out here doing some low-key modeling work, nbd. We are working on her hip strength to help alleviate some chronic knee pain she's been dealing with for the last few years. Knee pain isn't always a result of glute weakness, but in my years of experience working in a clinical setting, 4 outta 5 times, it's part of the equation. We are working on ankle stability, hip strength, and other things as a wholistic approach to meet her goals. We've only been working together a few weeks and she's already feeling stronger and experiencing less pain. In the clinic, we called these sidelying hip abductions "Fonda's" and I just love it. The name AND the movement. AND SARA! SHE'S GREAT.
