I danced hula and Tahitian competitively for years growing up in CA. Fell in love with aparima. The slow grace looks effortless, but it’s deep strength. Every gesture is intentional.
You’re in the middle of each movement while flowing through the whole story led by hands, hips, levels and foundational movement.
It may not seem relevant, but that’s why I fell in love with Pilates. I find there to be similarities in how movement and where the sequence/flow feels in the body. The posture, the precision, the connection look easeful, but you’re doing strength work without breaks. For example, I tell people you’re pretty much dancing in a moving squat.
Different forms. Same feeling.

The past 3 years, I dove HARD into classical Pilates here in NYC, working with Joseph Pilates’s elders and elders…straight from the source. And it genuinely healed me. My pelvic floor issues, chronic low back pain…gone. I’ve never felt so open, mobile, strong, elongated.
But I started in contemporary training, and I loved it. It was the creativity, the range, thinking outside the box to support different populations. Recently got asked to teach sculpt and contemporary classes (not just 1:1s) again, and it brought me home.
Here’s the plot twist: I took a “modern Pilates” megaformer class and fu***ng loved it. I missed how that feels in my body. It was 100% NOT Pilates. And even as someone who’s part of the “protect Pilates” conversation, I realized I forgot how much my body enjoys these other modalities.
It’s so clear now, compared to 8yrs ago, these are separate things. Different camps, different modalities, and they FEEL like that.
When I started 8-9 years ago, the lines were blurred. No one had language for it. I worked wherever paid me, adapted, and blended what I could.
Now I have clarity. I teach contemporary. I practice classical. I enjoy reformer strength work. I can love all of it because I KNOW what each one is.
In my 1:1s, I focus on myofascial release after strength work because 90% of my clients are battling tightness or pain. They can’t push hard when their bodies are wound up and knotted. That just makes it chronic. So I release first, then we rebuild.
Your body deserves that clarity too.

✨How to shakeup life 101: Bring a fun/creative/spiritual friend to Maui and have photoshoots in a half done renovated condo. Be sure to be spontaneous and be in flow. Do not control. Allow yourself to be captured by others. It’s the best catalyst to let go of suppressed energy blocks and fall in love with yourself, Life and relationships again. Other option, just go on a trip lol

This trip marks a chapter of intense inner evolution. I mean, on all levels that I don’t need to get into. It’s been almost 2 mos., but I need to post it as a time stamp for ME to remember all the things in my journal-to the hard, sad and scary stuff to the self actualization.

You know that little task that you have been putting off? The one thing that you think about at 3am when you wake up to go to the toilet, and you shiver with anxiety that you forgot it again?

We often do the same thing with our feelings.
We resist them because they make us uncomfortable or sad or lonely.
And they deplete our health as our bodies shout at us “Just Feel”.
Nurture your feelings, don’t resist. 😌
