STUFF I LIKE TO DO
Episode Series 38: Concepts of Movement Special Edition

In this special edition episode and follow-up to episode 37, I get into the movement concepts behind the exercises' purpose and why developing the body is essential.

I also cover a few things I forgot to cover in the previous episode.

Also, the key is to focus on consistent, measured practice to develop the muscles and the proper neural pathways so that an action becomes relatively automatic.

Enjoy.

STUFF I LIKE TO DO
Episode Series 37

“To me, the extraordinary aspect of martial arts lies in its simplicity. The easy way is also the right way, and martial arts is nothing at all special; the closer to the true way of martial arts, the less wastage of expression there is.”
― Bruce Lee

In this special edition episode and subsequent episode 38, I get into the movement concepts behind the exercises' purpose and why developing the body is essential.

I’ll tell you flat out that 99.9% percent of what we think we know or have been taught about combative movement is wrong. Much of the way folks move, and most of what is taught, is either based on some sort of sporting venue or on a reality of fighting that just doesn’t exist anywhere.

In the martial arts, many wish to reinvent the wheel on this, thinking they can defy the known laws of the universe and, as a result, never achieve what they truly desire. This is the ability to bring it to the bad guys with supernatural speed and crushing force.

Understand that when we talk about training, the whole purpose is to cause a change in behavior. Meaning you are trying to change the way you move and how you think about moving.

You want everything you do to become just a part of who you are. This is what we strive for in Warrior Flow, what we call skill mastery. In other words, it is the idea that every action must become a subconscious competence, so you can take action in your body or perform an action with little to no conscious thought.

The key is to focus on consistent, measured practice to develop the muscles and proper neural pathways where an action becomes relatively automatic.

Enjoy.

Episode Series 36

Picking up from Episode 35, I continue exploring the isometric exercises I use to develop extreme hitting power and hyper-balance.

These are exercises I learned over the years in my Master’s, and I thought it would be good to share them, since I often get questions about how to build the cutting power needed to develop focus in your striking.

Enjoy.
