The Colonels are hittin’ the road! 🚗⚾️

This Sunday, the Oakland Colonels venture down to the South Bay for a vintage base ball showdown against the San Jose Dukes in Sunnyvale.

Expect barehanded catches, 1886 rules, and plenty of old-time base ball spirit as these longtime rivals meet once again on the grounds.

The Oakland Colonels take to the field once more, bound for the red earths of Dublin to contest the formidable Mission Reddingtons in a grand match of base ball!

Join us on Sunday, the 3rd of May, at the hour of eleven in the forenoon, at Emerald Glen Park. Our stout-hearted nine shall be at the ready, with bats keen and spirits high, eager to deliver a most spirited exhibition of the national pastime as it was meant to be played.

Bring along thy companions, thy kin, and even thy four-legged friends—cheer loudly and partake in the merriment! Admission is free to all who wish to witness this noble contest.

Greetings Cranks! 🙌👏🎉 Although we have tried to reschedule our Dublin Aces rained out game from 4/12, we have not had luck so there will be no game this Sunday. If you’re still wanting to catch some vintage base ball, there are still two BAVBB matches in the city at Big Rec. At Noon, you can catch the & and 3pm & . The Oakland Colonels will be back on the field in Dublin on Sunday, May 3rd where the face the Reddingtons ⚾️ HUZZAH! 🙌

After last week’s great inquiry, it appears the good people remain puzzled… what is a “Clarion,” anyhow? A horn? A call to arms? A curious contraption of sound? Fear not—the Oakland Colonels shall deliver a proper schooling on the matter!

Join us this Sunday, April 19th at NOON as the Colonels take their home field at Washington Park against the Berkeley Clarions, where lessons shall be taught not by slate and chalk—but by bat and ball.

Admission is free to all! Bring forth your luncheon, your four-legged companions, and your most spirited cheer.

Put your gloves together and help us with some extra special birthday cheer for our loyal SCOUT! This faithful Colonel has been on the lineup since nearly the beginning, as he nears two decades! He earned his moniker initially as all Colonels do as a tease because he looked a little lost in the first game. That quickly changed throughout his inaugural season and remains to be the case as he now patrols it like knows every inch of that green field. Scout is our honorable leader, the one who keeps us steady and focused. He is faithful and loyal on and off the field. When he’s not stealing bases on Sundays, he’s a SUPER DAD to his two children and keeping the Bay Area well-cultured in his love of history for all things gaming, musical, and auto mechanical! Our Jack of all trades is clearly a one of a kind and we are especially grateful for our teammate on this day! Please join us in wishing Scout a very Happy Birthday! 🎊🎂⚾️🎉👏

The weather has the final say this weekend, Cranks! 🌧️🥲

Due to rain throughout the weekend, our Sunday, April 12th match against the Dublin Aces has been canceled. At this time, a rescheduled date is still to be determined.

We’ll be back in action soon—join us next Sunday, April 19th as we return to our home turf at Washington Park in Alameda to face the Berkeley Clarions.

The 1886 campaign is officially underway ⚾️

Yesterday at Washington Park, the Oakland Colonels squared off against the San Jose Dukes in front of a grand assembly of cranks—truly a splendid turnout that filled the grounds with energy and cheer. Though the Colonels fell by a tally of 14–8, there was no shortage of fine base ball and spirited play.

🎖 Player of the Game honors go to our very own rookie, “Gout,” who delivered a sterling performance at the plate—going 2 for 2 with 3 RBI and a run earned. A remarkable showing for his first contest in the green and white!

We tip our caps to the Dukes and thank all who came out to enjoy the match.

The Colonels now turn their sights to Dublin, where we shall meet the Dublin Aces on April 12th. Much base ball yet to be played, and we look forward to a most excellent season ahead!

Happy New Year 2026 from your Oakland Colonels Bay Area Vintage Base Ball team. As we embark on a new year and our 21st season this spring, we tip our hats to the last two decades of being a part of this fantastic sport and athletic family. We had a year like no other in 2025, where we experienced both challenges and new possibilities. A huge celebration was the opportunity to bring vintage base ball to the modern field of .ballers (also this year’s Champions!). A “field of dreams” moment that will be etched in our hearts last July. We are hopeful for a healthy new season and some new faces to the bench. Look out for our season opener and BAVBB schedule to launch later this month. To our faithful cranks, thank you for a great year and we look forward to new celebrations in the months to come! 🎊🎆⚾️
