Rebuilding your body confidence: What to do when life hijacks the body you once knew...
With over a year in quarantine and a complete upheaval of your normal routine, it is totally understandable that your body confidence has taken a massive hit.
And it is almost impossible for it not to, I think.
These days, we can feel as if we are living in a stranger’s body, and that we are no longer where we once were in our strength and ability.
It might feel like you are starting from scratch.
Many people coming back into our studio are saying this very thing, so you are in very good company.
So quickly our active lives can downshift dramatically into tentative steps, timid reaches, and guarded movements while we try to figure out this new way of being as we re-emerge into the World.
Indeed, our entire identity can become wrapped up in our pain, stiffness, and fearful movements until who we are as a whole person takes a backseat to our physical sensations and insecurities from moment to moment.
We look in the mirror and think “who is this?” and wonder if we will ever feel normal again.
And then we tumble into anxiety, fear, frustration, and even grief over our lost former selves.
But, take a moment to step out of that defeating fog for just a moment.
There are so many tiny actions that you CAN take each day that can help you lift your mood, build movement freedom, and bridge the gap between the “you” before a year in quarantine, and the “you” today.
You might feel reluctant to go back to the exercise routines you enjoyed before quarantine. Our students are telling us every day that they were a little scared to return to the studio because they feel “out of shape” and “not like myself at all, I feel like I am starting over”.
And within minutes of being back on the machines and moving in a way that their body has been craving for so long, their tune quickly changes to “Ahhh, I missed this. This is exactly what I needed. I am so happy to be back.”.
It really is like riding a bike. You may feel like you are at square 1 but I promise you, your body remembers and is ready to get back to life.
And we are so ready to welcome you back.
At ReActive Movement, we work intuitively and strategically with your unique body and experience to craft an empowering movement practice that helps you build trust and confidence in your body and its abilities.
And in no time you will be in your own skin again...and it feels amazing!
We have just a handful of spots left in our schedule, and we would love to see you in it. Click the link below to schedule your private session or group class now...
