Authentic Relating was recently featured in The Atlantic!! Shout out to Sara Ness and Bryan Bayer for being featured. :)

My brother Michael Porcelli wrote a blog post in response to the article. Here's a preview quote from his post:

I'm leading a Game Night on change tomorrow night in Berkeley. Part of the inspiration for picking the topic of "change" was this The Oatmeal comic from Matt Inman.

In it he breaks down a fascinating psychological behavior called "the backfire effect" which explains why changing one's beliefs can be so difficult.

What is "Authentic Relating"?

It could be said there are three types of relating:

1) Informational. Questions such as: "What do you do?" and "Where are you from?" Often important to exchange this info, but lacking real depth.

2) Personal. Questions like: "What are you passionate about?" These can be valuable questions, but may still miss the level of connection we crave.

3) Relational. Where we share our actual experience, in the moment & notice what's it actually like being with each other, in real time.

At AuthenticSF events, we focus on this third, deeper kind of relating.

All are welcome. Bring a friend, bring your partner, or come solo! Even if you've known someone for years, these events are an excellent opportunity to connect in a new way.

These events are a safe place to take risks and play a little more outside the box in a way that allows us to discover more of ourselves than we often do in our everyday lives - all in service of creating more of what we want in ALL of our relationships - while also having a great time on an otherwise innocent Saturday afternoon.
