It’s easy to compare yourself to what you could do 10, 20, or 30 years ago.
But that’s not where progress starts.
Progress starts with what you can do today.
A short walk. A few simple strength exercises. One better choice. One small step.
Start where you are and build from there.

Over 50 and haven’t exercised in years? Here’s exactly where to start.
Don’t start with an hour at the gym.
Start with 10 minutes.
For the first few days, take a comfortable 10-minute walk at a pace where you can still carry on a conversation.
Take a recovery day, but keep moving gently — walk around the house, park farther away, and avoid sitting all day.
Then gradually increase your walks to 12–15 minutes, and eventually work toward 15–20 minutes.
Once that starts feeling manageable, add a couple of simple strength sessions each week with movements like chair stands, wall push-ups, and supported squats.
The goal in the beginning isn’t to get fit as fast as possible.
It’s to become consistent.
Start where you are. Your body responds to what you do today — not what you used to be able to do.

Recovery doesn’t mean you have to spend the whole day on the couch.
Your body benefits from gentle movement, even on the days you’re not doing a full workout.
Take a short walk. Move around the house. Park a little farther away. Stretch. Keep your body moving without pushing it.
Especially when you’re getting started again, recovery is part of the plan — not a break from the plan.
The goal isn’t to do more every single day.
The goal is to keep showing up consistently.
What does a good recovery day look like for you?

But here’s the catch: many women aren’t eating nearly enough.
And it’s not just about eating “more protein.” How much you need, how you spread it throughout the day, and the choices you make all matter.
In Blog #275, I break it down and make it SIMPLE.
