Jeff Davis passed away earlier this week. We will keep you posted on any services.

Jeff Davis Sr., beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away May 11th, 2026 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Tracey Davis; his son, Jeff Davis Jr. and wife Lisa; and two grandchildren who were the light of his life—Hannah Davis, 20, and Connor Davis, 15.

Jeff dedicated 32 years to the fire service, retiring as Deputy Chief from the James Island Fire Department in South Carolina. He was known for his steady leadership, his deep compassion for others, and his unwavering commitment to protecting his community.

Beyond his service, Jeff’s greatest passions were his family, friends, and fishing. Whether casting a line or sharing time with those he loved, he found joy in the connections that made life meaningful. He will be remembered as a good man with a generous heart, a steady presence, a competitive spirit and a love that shaped the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know him.

His legacy lives on in the family he cherished, the friends and colleagues he inspired, and the countless lives he touched.

A memorial service will be planned for early summer.

In need of two boat captains for this coming Saturday at St. Johns Astor. If you can help please let me know. Boat captains get to fish and get gas $$$.

We will be putting on a benefit Tournament for Jeff Davis. Jeff has been a member of Marion County Bassmasters for as long as we've been a club and has also fished several other trails over the years. Jeff has come into some health issues and we are holding the benefit to help with anything needed. We will have raffle items from Black Label Marine Group but can also take any other raffle donations. Also, if anyone wants to sponsor any aspect of the tournament please let us know. We are working on having food at weigh in. Even if you can't fish come out and watch the weigh in, buy raffle tickets, and enjoy some fellowship as we gather for a great cause!

Marion County Bassmasters tournament tomorrow at Lake Panasofkee! We are launching at Lake Panasoffkee Lodge- Tracy's Point ! Make sure to pay your ramp fee to the lodge. Be in the water no later than 6:30am. If you need to register be there before 6:15am! New members welcome! Must be a member of B.A.S.S. dues are $60. Tournament Entry is $40 per angler. Optional Big Bass of year side pot $20 (currently worth $1500!!!)
