White Abarrio surged past the front-runner, Saudi Crown, on the far turn and powered home to win the $3-million G1 Pegasus World Cup Invitational at Gulfstream Park, setting a new stakes record by finishing the 1 1/8-mile race in a time of 1:48.05.
“Everything just aligned. You come up with a plan and more often than not it doesn’t work, but today it did.” said trainer Saffie Joseph Jr.
