Today marks two weeks since The Surfboard Collective has closed the doors on our brick and mortar location. When I ( ) started out back in 2018 with I had a vision for a surfboard business. Ryan helped me mold that vision and evolve it into a different type of surf shop, more of a traditional style board-shop, focusing on boards and fins with a more “hard goods specialty” approach. With Ryan’s help, he and I were able to build something special. Over the course of four years we outgrew our first location. We went from a two person team in a small 500 sq ft unit, and with the help of my brother and one of my best friends, , TSC became a trio and in Dec. of 2022 we were able to grow into a larger, 1100 sq ft unit. As we moved into 2023 and 2024, like nearly everyone that owns and operates a small business, we experienced a handful of unpredictable and slower than normal years of operations. The current unpredictability of our industry wasn’t even our main issue. Our two locations were different suites in the same complex, which is a building with ongoing water damage issues that’s more than once interrupted our operations. Add rising rent costs to that equation and it was enough to put the three of us all in agreement that now is the right time for us to take a step back from a physical location and reassess how we continue to exist and operate. We’re extremely proud of what we were able to accomplish and what we were able to build. We’re especially grateful to all of our friends, family, board builders, surfboard fin companies, all of our vendors, and neighbors that helped us bring The Surfboard Collective into existence. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all the support from every single one of our customers as well as our local community. We appreciate and love all of the kind words and excitement our customers shared with us about our shop and how we operated. We will be back, but in the meantime it’s time to go surfing!! See you in the water! ❤️❤️❤️

We’re coming down to our last two weekends here in business at our 1012 S Coast Hwy location. Doors are open today until 4pm and tomorrow from 12-4pm with almost our entire inventory of Surfboards significantly marked down as well as the vast majority of our fin inventory, small inventory of wetsuits tops and long john suits, and surfboard accessories also marked down to prices you can’t pass up! Come take advantage and stop by to talk boards and come find that gem to upgrade your quiver! Don’t forget we also have for the next week only, 30 beautiful brand new surfboards from Hank Byzak at killer prices! We’ll see you soon!

Along the same thought idea as our last post, nothing lasts forever and change is inevitable. Our lease at our 1012 S Coast Hwy Suite i address is up at the end of March. We’ve been deliberating for months on what our next move will be. The business has grown as much as we possibly can in our current location and due to a number of factors, which include issues with our current location (a suite off of Coast Hwy that’s not very easy to find and is an old & deteriorating building with constant water damage issues), we have decided to not renew our lease and take a step back and pause our brick and mortar model to allow us more time and less pressure to find the right re-imagining of a physical location. Don’t fret it won’t be the last time you’ll see a TSC brick and mortar and we aren’t really going anywhere! We’re going to work hard on tightening up our website and online version our of business and will continue to do a lot of the same things, just not at the same capacity and frequency as we’ve done these last 7 years. It’s a tough and bittersweet decision to make but one we feel is the right decision for the three of us, and the future potential of our business model and original idea. We very much from the bottom of our hearts appreciate every single one of our customers, and all of the engagement on our social media platforms from other surfers that just simply love surfing and surfboards as much as we do. The last 7 years have been a wonderful experience for all of us and one that has given us a lot to look forward to for a version 2.0 re-imaging of what our shop could look like and operate like. We’re going to operate from Wednesday through Saturday 12-4 until around March 15th when we need to get our unit cleared out. In the meantime we’re going to have some killer opportunities on pricing for all of our fins, accessories, and all the boards we currently own. Definitely keep an eye on our website for some markdowns with “can’t pass up” pricing. The future is bright and we’re looking forward to the changes on the way!

The only constant in life is change. Seasons come and go and nothing lasts forever. For the last 5 + decades the surfboard industry has been blessed with the craftsmanship and master board building of . After countless hours and tens of thousands of surfboards, Hank is putting the planer down to be able to better enjoy the fruits of those decades of labor and spend more time with his family. There aren’t many shapers alive today with the same depth of experience and mastery of such a wide scope of surfboard designs that Hank has. We’ve been carrying Hank’s boards for years and we understand better than most how well designed, how functional, and how beautiful his shapes are. That’s why when our friend asked us if we’d be interested in helping facilitate a move out of the shop Hank has been in for 20+ years, and house some of the last stock boards Hank shaped, we jumped at the opportunity! Although Hank likely won’t be making any more boards, we’ve been blessed with a chance to showcase, celebrate, and highlight a fairly comprehensive look at over 30 of Hank’s last stock boards all the way from 5’10” up to 10’4” in length, and including a jaw dropping mix of shapes that cover a wide spectrum of designs. We’re beyond stoked and proud to help put a spotlight on these boards and get them into the hands and under the feet of lucky riders that we know will be stoked themselves! Moving forward Hank’s designs will still be available under the OG “Pure Fun” label and finish shaped by under Hank’s watchful eye! 👏❤️ We’ll be working to get all these boards up on our website and gram ASAP! Until then stop by the shop this weekend to take advantage of the opportunity to grab one of the last shapes Hank made himself! We’ll see you soon!

The “Pisces” model from has to be one of the absolute sexiest shapes I’ve had under my arm in a long time. Having a really hard time not taking this home with me! Oscar has the secret sauce in his boards and you can tell from just looking at them and feeling them. Just wait until you actually ride one and you’ll know what we’re talking about! This particular one checks in at 5’8” x 20 5/8” x 2 1/2”. The shop is open so don’t hesitate to stop by and feel this beauty up in person! See you soon!

Our brother and master foam slaying sensei stopped by last week and blessed us with a small batch of boards for our shop! Oscar also brought along two personal sleds, pictured in this post, for us to check out and show the people what they need! Trust me I begged him to let us swoop those as well and sell them but he said those two are for him! Don’t fret because he can whip you up a custom in no time! The highest quality and attention to the smallest details are cornerstones of Oscar’s approach to making surf craft. The proof is in the pudding. All you need to do is pick one up to realize his shapes are far beyond most. We’re stoked and proud to carry Oscar’s equipment in our shop! The two in this post aren’t for sale but you’re in luck because we have 3 other shapes from Oscar that are available to take home! Keep your eyes peeled to our instagram or check our website for more details on the 3 we currently have in stock from him! The shop is open this week Wednesday through Saturday from 12-4pm! See you soon!
