Decided to fabricate a new jack setup, can be used to stabilize, level, and change a flat.
Made them removable so no worries about dragging them when off-road.
The mounts that I welded to the trailer frame is a 2-1/2" to 2" reducer for hitches. Had one laying around and decided to try it, works perfectly. Welded to frame and crossmember to give a little more stability.
I thought about cutting the handle off and welding a nut so I could use a cordless to raise and lower like I have in my 5th wheel CTC, but decided I did not want to have to bring a cordless with me all the time.
Ordered a matched set of hitch locks so I can lock these and use a single key for these and my truck.

Power of Solar

Thought I would share this for those that have doubts about using solar.
Just back from one of our hunting trips and let's just say weather was not perfect.
Temps were in the 30's during the day and completely overcast all day.
When we woke in the morning the battery was at 89% (200ah LifePO4), since we left before sunrise to get to our spot I wanted to show the system progress when we returned to warm up at lunch time.
As you can see from the pictures even in the heavy cloud cover the system was producing 100W of power (3x100W panels) and by 2 PM when we were gearing up to head back out, the batteries were at 100%. This was with the 12V cooler/fridge running, though in the temps we had it did not have to run much.

You do not need direct sunlight to produce power if you set your system up with the right components.

This is the system in the CTC.

Bed conversion built

Made a filler panel to go between the fold down racks to create one large bed for when the wife goes hunting with me. Just drop in place and slide the mattresses together.
Simple design, ripped down a 2x12 and used some 1-1/2" steel angle to hold in place.
Stows away perfectly under the bed when not needed.
Will paint once I have tried it out on a trip.

12V Boondocking electrical system, complete, under $2k

If anyone is interested, the linked page includes a pdf download of the system diagrams and list of parts with prices.

This is the standard 12v boondocking system we install for off-grid/hunting boondocker rigs. Also use it in my personal hunting CTC which is usually a week to 10 days and have been very pleased with it, rarely go below 75% on the battery even on short winter days.

CTC BTU Calculator 01/28/2024

We created this little online calculator to assist in sizing a heating unit for CTCs.
Just enter the size of your CTC and how much temp rise you would like and it will tell you the minimum BTUs required to make it happen.

CTConversion Calculate Trailer Weights 12/27/2023

When looking to buy a preowned CTC, always ask for the weight information. Anyone posting a CTC for sale should also include this information so buyers can make informed decisions.

CAT Scales are all over and weighing your rig is a minor cost, usually about $13.00. You should also weigh your tow vehicle without the trailer, you can do this as a reweigh for about $4.00 at the same scale.

Anyone building their own CTC should also take the time to get this information about their build.

I setup a web page to make the calculations easy, no ads, no cost and no obligation. we just want you to be safe when towing.

Posted this back in Feb, but just got this ad from WeBoost today, so I thought I would repost in case anyone is looking for such a device, they are very simple to make.
Antenna mount, or anything else that needs to be lowered during travel.
Because I nearly choked at the cost of a factory unit, I made my own out of some scrap angle and about $10.00 worth of spacer, nut, and bolt.
A 3/8" shoulder bolt was the expensive part, about $6 at Ace, also used a nylon spacer and nylock nut to keep everything snug and secure.
Operation is completely toolless with the PTO pin to hold in place. Simply pull the pin, rotate, and reinsert the pin.
The roof mount is just some wood scrap held in place with Eternabond tape, it has been on the roof for over 6,000 miles with my original plastic mount that didn't last. No holes in the roof using the tape.
Painted with VHT epoxy paint, that stuff just lasts.
