OPA News!
For those of you who haven’t heard, the Ogden pickleball courts are going to get their much needed re-surfacing. The plan, as it sits right now, is to, first, have the Mt Ogden courts re-surfaced Spring 2022. The Monroe courts will then be assessed for the needs at that location (lighting, additional courts, etc.). OPA has been in constant contact with the city and has expressed the local pickleball community’s needs and desires when it comes to the pickleball facilities in Ogden City. It is a process that everyone can be a part of. The next time you are at a busy pickleball facility, waiting to get on a court, take a photograph depicting the amount of players waiting. Then send that picture to [email protected].
OPA will be raising money for additional equipment and amenities that each of these pickleball facilities need. Our goal is to get new court numbers at each location; pickleball rules and pickleball only signs; wind socks; and additional picnic shade pavilions (like the one at Mt Ogden).
Help OPA accomplish these goals by signing up for the OPA Events at ogdenpickleball.org. If you do not want to participate in one of our event but would like to contribute to the cause, you can send a donation via Venmo; Ogden Pickleball
Thank you

Why participate in OPA’s monthly mini round robin events?
This year has definitely been a challenge to host these events. There are so many options for players to choose from on a weekly basis. There are, at times, 2 to 3 tournaments a week. These OPA mini-round robins are a great way to get tuned up for these tournaments. Team up with someone who you haven’t played with before and see how you would do together; find out if your styles complement each other. Why not figure that out at an OPA mini round robin then the day of your big tournament?
OPA, throughout the years, has contributed greatly to all aspects of pickleball by providing clinics, training, and tournaments; providing volunteers, equipment and resources to different organizations and functions. OPA has worked with schools, after-school youth programs, senior citizens centers and city recreation departments to help setup, build, teach, and promote pickleball.
The OPA Board is 100% made up of volunteers working to grow the sport they love; the sport we all love. These volunteer board members do not get paid (nor to do they ask to be), do not get kickbacks, and do not get free balls or gear. The board members do get the satisfaction that they contributed to the growth of pickleball. All of the money raised by the association goes back to the numerous NORTHERN Utah pickleball communities.
OPA has been in talks all year with Ogden City in hopes of getting the courts updated; getting the courts resurfaced, getting new court numbers installed, and getting “Rules” signage (pickleball only). OPA, this year, would also like to contribute to the youth that play at Barnes Park after the adult are done there. OPA is open to donate what they can to anything pickleball related. However, this takes funding and the 80% of the money that OPA raises is from these mini round robin events. So the next time you are thinking about playing pickleball, practicing for a tournament, or tuning your skills…please consider an OPA event. (If you are all about the medals, we have those too!)
Thank you for your time!
