🌲🥾🛠️ National Public Lands Day Trail Work!
Join Ojai Valley Land Conservancy (OVLC), in collaboration with the Ojai Recreation Department (ORD), as we celebrate National Public Lands Day on Saturday, September 26, by getting our hands dirty on the Rice Ridge Trail!
We’ll be rerouting a portion of the trail on Forest Service land to create a more sustainable route and help hikers, bikers, and equestrians enjoy the Ventura River area for years to come. Basically, we’re giving the trail a little makeover no fancy contractors required! 😎
📅 When: Saturday, September 26
⏰ Time: 8:00 AM–12:00 PM
📍 Meet: OVLC Office, Old Honor Farm
370 W Baldwin Road, Building A4
Ojai, CA 93023
From the office, we’ll consolidate into a few vehicles and head to the worksite through the OVLC Ventura River Preserve.
📞 Need directions or running late? Call the Preserve Manager at 805-212-0445.
🛠️ What We’ll Be Doing
We’ll be creating a new section of trail by:
Cutting vegetation with hand saws and loppers
Removing stumps with picks and shovels
Building new tread with hoes and rakes
And don’t worry you won’t be thrown into the wilderness with a shovel and told to “figure it out.” OVLC staff and volunteer crew leaders will be there to provide guidance and keep us pointed in the right direction.
What to Bring
There are some patches of poison oak in the area, so long pants and long sleeves are strongly recommended. Closed-toe shoes are required, preferably boots.
🧤 Gloves
🧢 Hat, sunglasses & sunscreen
💧 Plenty of extra water
👕 Clothes you don’t mind getting dirty
Coyote Two Moon will also be donating Paradise Valley Soaps, which help prevent and treat itching and rashes caused by poison oak and can even soothe bug bites! 🌿
OVLC will provide snacks and drinks, but please bring extra food and plenty of water, especially if you plan on working hard.
And remember this is trail work, not a fashion show. Leave the nice clothes at home you’re probably going to meet some dirt, sweat, and possibly a shovel that has a personal grudge against you.
Come out, get dirty, meet some great people, and help take care of the trails we all love! 🌲❤️🥾
See you on the trail!

ROADLESS AREAS ARE UNDER ATTACK AND OUR TRAILS ARE AT RISK. 🚨
Some of the most special places we run, explore, and love are protected because they are roadless and undeveloped. These wild places aren’t just lines on a map they are the trails where we challenge ourselves, connect with nature, build community, and create memories that stay with us for a lifetime.
Now, those protections are under threat. And along with the loss of these wild landscapes, many of the trail races we know and love could also be impacted.
Check out the new interactive map from Runners for Public Lands to see which trail races travel through roadless areas and learn how much of our trail running community depends on these wild places.
For us, this is personal.
Coyote Two Moon Ultras runs through approximately 47.5% remote roadless areas. These rugged, undeveloped mountains are a huge part of what makes Coyote Two Moon such a unique experience. The remoteness, the wilderness, the quiet, and the challenging trails are what make this race what it is.
If these protections are overturned, the character of these lands could change forever. Increased development, roads, and other impacts could fundamentally alter the landscape and potentially put the future of events like Coyote Two Moon Ultras at risk.
That would be devastating.
We believe our public lands should remain wild, accessible, and protected for future generations of runners, hikers, hunters, climbers, and everyone who finds inspiration in these places. Protecting roadless areas means protecting the trails and wilderness experiences we all cherish.

Our trails need a voice. Our wild places need a voice. And right now, we need to use ours.

Protect the roads less traveled. Protect the places we run. Protect our public lands.

We’re ready for you and for the incredible journey that lies ahead through the T**a T**a Mountains. 🏔️🏃🏽♂️🏃♀️❤️
Every step you take out there will be part of something bigger than just miles on a trail. It’s a journey through rugged climbs, breathtaking views, quiet moments, and the kind of challenges that remind you exactly why you signed up in the first place. The T**a T**as will test you, inspire you, and reward you in ways only these mountains can.
Our entire team has been working hard to make sure the course is dialed in, the trails are marked, and the experience is something you’ll remember long after you cross that finish line. Whether you’re chasing a goal, pushing your limits, or simply soaking in the beauty of the mountains, this weekend is all about your adventure. 🏔️🏃🏽♂️🏃♀️❤️

What time is it???
Oh… it’s not just any time it’s COYOTE TWO MOON TIME, BABY!!!
That magical moment of the year when sleep becomes optional, and the beautiful Ojai mountains are about to witness greatness… and a little bit of suffering (the good kind… mostly).
We are officially at FULL SEND 🚀 getting everything dialed in to deliver an unforgettable weekend epic views, brutal climbs, questionable decisions, and stories you’ll be telling for years.
As the legendary Speedgoat himself, Karl Meltzer, likes to casually say:
“100 miles is not that far…”
which is easy to say when you’ve basically run around the planet a few times 😅
And speaking of legends… throw it back to 2008, the very first Coyote Two Moon, where Karl made that propeller hat spin, and made it look like a casual Sunday jog. One of those “fair weather” years… you know, the kind where everything goes right and nobody cries (much).
But THIS year? What’s in store for you ??
So the real question is…
ARE. YOU. READY. 🔥
Because the mountains are waiting. The trail is calling.
And that buckle and medals aren’t going to earn itself. 📸 Don Lundell

With only 7 days until the 2026 C2M, we’re in that final phase of getting stuff together , sleep is optional… and we still need a few legends to step up and make this thing run smoother than a fresh pair of trail shoes.
We’re looking for brave (and slightly adventurous) souls to fill these critical roles:
Aid Station Heroes: Hand out snacks, hydration, and the occasional life advice to runners questioning their existence.
Trail Marking Ninjas: Make sure no one accidentally turns a 50K into an unplanned 100-miler.
Trail Sweepers: The real MVPs bringing up the rear and making sure every runner gets home.
Whether you’re crewing a runner, love the trail community, or just want front-row seats to some beautiful chaos, we’d love to have you out there with us.
Perks? Oh yeah: A sweet Patagonia Sun Hoodie, top-tier trail vibes, race-day excitement, and enough good karma to last at least until your next race.
