Trying to get the word out…
Darren Lynn Brown, 61, died on August 13, 2026. He was born on April 25, 1965 in Wichita, Kansas to Farren and Karen Brown. Darren was always available to family in times of crisis, providing love, support, and guidance. He loved life, he loved his family and will be missed by the many lives he touched.
Darren worked as a leader and public servant in Barton, Pawnee, and Woodson counties in Kansas and in Okeechobee, Florida where he relocated eight years ago. He worked as the Director of Public Works for Okeechobee County.
He was a member of Beeline Bass Busters and B.A.S.S. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed camping, fishing, and hunting, was PADI certified as an open water diver, and participated and directed fishing tournaments.
Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his father, Farren Lynn Brown; stepfather, James Douglas Seden; brother, Brian Alan Brown; and grandparents, Schuyler and Eva Mae Moser, and Russell and Ann Brown.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Raedesa (Hall) Brown; mother, Karen (Moser) Brown Soden; sons, Farren Lynn Brown, Clay Cooper (Savannah), and Levi Cooper; grandchildren, Waylynn Cooper, Tilly Cooper, Evie Cooper, and unborn grandson Brown; sister-in-law, Kristene (Crissman) Brown; nephew, Schuyler Lynn Brown; and nieces, Katrena Brown, Kourtney Brown, and Kerisa Brown.
The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Friday, August 21, 2026 at Buxton Okeechobee Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the Okeechobee High School Bass Fishing Club; Heart Failure Research Foundation, or the Okeechobee County Fire Rescue.
