Wishing you all an auspicious New Year of the Male Water-Tiger 2022

This artwork was especially created in celebration of this years Tibetan Losar ༢༡༤༩ completed earlier on the numerically significant date of the 22/02/2022

Depicting a less likely juxtaposed relationship between feline and water - this dynamic is both strong and sensitive.
The tiger is shown fearless, if not comfortably calm, wading the creative fluidity of water, pushing past the somewhat venerable lotus leaves and high standing lotus flowers, blooms in magenta and the rare blue utpala lotus of a peaceful pure realm – places this tiger in his natural habitat of the Far East.

The piece is painted using techniques of traditional Tibetan thangka painting, yet less conventional in representation – the tiger and his pose with clumps of lotus plants, being more realistic and perhaps contemporary in style.
