Building a late model for the shootout. I can't wait to run Maclan Racing's new MRR V5 13.5 motor with my Maclan M32TPRO esc. Tulsa time is upon us.

So I've been super behind on my race reports. And it's definitely something I'm going to work harder on. The last four races that midgets were on the program I've won in a row. Three of those being point series races and the Power Products Dirt Oval Classic.
The Elite Series I ran Mudboss (with the Maclan V4-SS 7.4 5200MaH lipos) tq'd and won. Midwest Modified finished 5th with Maclan m32t Pro esc, V4 8.0, V4 7.6hv 6400MaH and Xpert R3 servo Undercover Race Bodies midwest modified body.
My Midget is a CW Beast running the Maclan V4 Stock Spec 7.4 6000MaH lipos and Xpert R3 servo with a McAllister Racing Slammer body and flip cage. The Graphic Shop has been making my cars look cool for years now.
This past Saturday we ran point series race #4. I tq'd both Midget and Midwest Modified with my new Undercover Race Bodies 2025 chassis. An incident in the feature caused a DNF with it, I did win the Midget feature having an awesome battle with Damyrus McDonald. I just love racing with him now in 2 classes. I still can't talk my teammate Thomas Andrew Kuter into running a midget even offering him a car.
Big thank you to my sponsors

So you go clubbin with your friends the other day...
Saturday night "club" racing at Mojo's in preparation for their Ice Breaker race in two weeks. Skoden boys!
I ran two classes DE Non Wing and Late model since Daytona and I were told we couldn't run our Undercover Surge midgets with the Bandit Wingless only run them with the DE Non Wing Sprints. Which would be hard for me since I was already running my Maclan Powered Triple P Shift 22 in that class. So it wouldn't be until after the races when we could test it.
Round one I'm back to back late model then non wing. The Custom Works Rocket 4 late model was uncomfortably tight and the body was hitting on the rightside. Which made things worse. Finished 2nd had nothing for Andy Shouse. I made mental notes what I needed to adjust sitting 6th overall I also feel that the Maclan MRR V4 7.0 is probably too much so I'll go into the M32T esc and make some adjustments and add some dragbrake. Non wing was pretty much there just 2 rounds up the right front to free it up some more and I felt good. Won my heat sitting 3rd overall. I had tried the Quasi Speed big bore springs on the front small bore shocks. I didnt really notice much of a difference maybe a little more lazy on entry. I like them more on just the rear of the car. It's club racing throw stuff at the wall see what sticks.
Round two fight! Speaking of throwing stuff at the wall had a little help on turn two exit pancaked the rightside hard. You know what doesn't stick kids? Ball studs on right rear camber link, sheared it right off thankfully being aircraft mechanic at Tinker I had more than 2 threads of protrusion so I was able to remove it with some needle nose pliers. No pit area machine work for this guy. But that was after I cornered then raced the non wing. I started 3rd got into 2nd early had a tangle with another car. Then those DE Racing Outlaws came to life and it was on! Back up to 2nd and was running the leader down. Half track, then a straightaway, then coming out of 4 he slows, lipos out with like 30 seconds to go I pass him and beat his TQ time from round 1. Gaining 5 laps from my round 1 heat time. Man I love this car, this class and those sexy big DE Racing tires.
Feature time thankfully my round 1 late model time was good enough to lock in 6th for the A. So I was back to back once again. The adjustments we made worked early in the race but quickly went away and she got dumptruck tight. Maybe more drag brake? More left toe go out with the right rear more? Rear camberlink adjustment? Definitely something Thomas Andrew Kuter and I plan to work on Wednesday night practice. I finished about where I started. Non wing started on the pole and never looked back. 38 laps 1 lap faster than my TQ but I wanted 39 and a hotlap under 6.0. Because I have an idea on who will be at the icebreaker and I want to be in the mix with them.
After race shenanigans with Daytona leaving short after his race. It was just me with a midget. Threw her out there ran some laps made some adjustments. Got Joe out to run some laps, Jimmy Porter , Lindsey Ools , Blake Surrell, Andy Shouse, even Parker Bolton hot lapped it. Made more adjustments car and radio wise. Got it going pretty good. Im going to put some limiters in the front shocks to get the ride height down. Or even medium front shocks maybe? I do want to change to 20° kick ups 13.5 Hobby Wing just stock combo was surprisingly quick. Geared similar to what some were geared at chili bowl. Green compound JCONCEPTS Sprinters I had left over from chili bowl. I didnt even sauce them. All those laps never changed the battery. I can see why so many tracks are going to that combo for their entry or sportsman classes. The midgets are fun and a handful as they should be. But with tuning can make them extremely racy. Will they take over? Will they replace non wing sprints I don't know. I hope not because I love non wing sprint cars. I want to run the midget on the Quasi Speeds and on the DE Racing Regulators they look bitchin on the car.
I had a good time last night hanging out with my friends. Billy Caldwell , David Alford made the drive up from Lawton. My Graphic Shop SCR teammates Tom and Daytona. I was asked why I didnt run Outlaw Sprint and the answer is simply this. I'm not at the level where I can run high 4s low 5s consistently or with a full field of cars. I don't race there enough. And the last thing I want is to ruin someone elses night because Im in the way or struggling to get a handle at those speeds. Mad props to the racers that can. Maybe one day I will be and maybe I'll never be. And that's okay.
I want to thank my sponsors The Graphic Shop, Maclan Racing, SCR Grizzly Bodies, KiltEm Printwerks

9th Annual Summer Showdown at TPR race report. Let's go kids!
I got to the track about noon. Set up and started well more like continued building a Custom Works based Triple P Shift23. Front end was together just needed to build shocks, cvds, electronics, cage, last years GSR body panels new wing mounts etc. The plan was to finish it up throughout the day then hot lap it after the races. Well then I thought ya know I could run all three sprint cars. So I signed up Outlaw, 10.5 Sportsman, and Non Wing sprint. All open wheel all the time because well I'm an open wheel snob lol.
So with Randy Lathrop 's chili bowl set up, no practice, steering not completely trimmed out, no tail tank, a Maclan esc I couldnt remember if it was a good spare or if it was one that was giving me issues before. I had two esc's sitting on my pit table at home so it was a 50/50 shot. I threw on the track to see what she'd do. Couple hot laps, trimmed the steering it was good enough. Started the race not bad few laps in like 7 maybe the left steering turnbuckle flew out. Welp that was fun.. I'll fix it after my outlaw race. Finished 3rd or 4th in my outlaw heat. Car didnt feel too bad went free torwards the last minute and half. So won the Non Wing Heat race on the DE wheels, DNF 10.5, 3 or 4th in Outlaw heat.
We took a lengthy break car count was low and we wanted the track to be better for the next round and mains later. I had another bright idea this one was a good one. We had two 5 gallon jugs of blue gatorade. Man some Malibu would be great in this. So that happened to one of the jugs. During the break I got the Triple P fixed, tail tank mounted and installed, added a Rocket Racing fan mount with a 30mm power products fan.
Round Two fight. Blake Surrell put small tires back on his non wing GFRP and smoked me. Finished 2nd will start 2nd for the A. 10.5 was next car felt really good I was surprisingly comfortable in it after a rear toe change. Well that was before the left front decided to leave the chat. The backing screw holding the axle came out. And no I didn't check that when I pulled the front end off the midget to build this car. I'd start last in the feature. Outlaw raced right after finished 3 or 4th again. The left front steering spindle keeps loose. The screw is pulling out of the plastic. I have been running the cw inline spindles with C4 spacers. I'll start midpack in the B.
Feature time feature time! Outlaw B first up, lined up 5th finished 5th the spindle fix didnt work. Will put the AE stock ones back on after the races and test it. Non wing finished 2nd had nothing for Blake. I guess an R6 13.5 will need to be ordered. I think my R5 is getting tired. 10.5 starting last, I think Ive got all the bugs worked out of it. The car was great driver not as much stepped on it a few times and got behind. Tires finally came in around 2 minute mark and it was time to go worked my way up to 3rd. I do believe if it wasnt for my mistakes early giving them a multiple lap cushion I could have made it more of a race. I think my car was faster I could catch them and pull away. Just got behind the eight ball too early. Thomas Andrew Kuter joked after and said man that car came to life after Craig Francis said David Parent was in third. Lol
Two out of three podium finished and like Meatloaf sung two out of three ain't bad. This next week I'm going to switch the motors out of the Outlaw and 10.5 see if I like the Triple P as an Outlaw better. Hot lapped the Outlaw after the races after changing the spindles out and it felt better. There is nothing worst than an ill handling car you just can't get comfortable with. I love racing my sprint cars. And the Outlaw Class at TPR is pretty stout I want to be able to get up there and be in the mix not in the way. We'll keep digging. And thanks to Glen Bean for the pit help and Randy Lathrop for the build advice

*Singing* It's just me mowing in the dark. Got the lights on so I don't see the stars. Lol I waited until we got out of the triple digits to get to the track. Glad I napped on the way home from Weatherford this afternoon. I mowed about 3/4 of the area surrounding the track. I'll finish it up tomorrow evening while we put the final touches in prep for the big Elite Series race Saturday! And racers remember we will have practice from 4ish 5ish to 11 pm friday evening. We've got racers coming in from all over. Texas, Kansas Missouri, Indiana, Iowa, Utah etc. Its going to be an epic event at TPR!
