This appears to be the lower Illinois River below Tenkiller.

The generators have been down for approx. 2 years, but are functioning again, which may have been a contributing factor here.

Check the generation schedule and exit if the siren sounds or the water begins to rise and you are too far downstream to hear the siren.

We’re gonna need a bigger net. Silver carp, aka “flying carp,” can jump 10 feet out of the water when spooked by motors and other loud noises. And when whole groups start flying, the 10-to-50-pound fish are big enough to break bones if you happen to be in a passing boat. Believe it or not, being a flying attack fish isn’t the biggest threat posed by silver carp. These invasive fish are doing major damage to rivers, harm native fish communities, and impact commercial and reactional fishing to the tune of billions of dollars. We’re working to slow or reverse the spread of silver carp, and prevent them from entering new water bodies using strategies like bio-acoustic fences, advance eDNA monitoring, and using ‘traitor fish’ to find where they are hiding.
