Late-inning magic, early-season surge for Gardner-Edgerton | East/SE Kansas Softball Standouts The comeback started quietly, then all at once.

Former Olathe Northwest feature athlete Kendall Yarnell is enjoying an incredible season with UCF Softball, and last night delivered the biggest of hits against the University of Kansas in extra innings.

Through 46 games, Yarnell is hitting .360 (40-for-111) with 13 home runs, 8 doubles, 3 triples, and 41 RBI, along with a .470 on-base percentage and .838 slugging percentage (1.308 OPS).

As a freshman in 2025, Yarnell hit .339 (21-for-62) in 50 games and led the Big 12 in pinch hits.

Last night, she smacked a walk-off three-run home run in the eighth inning to defeat No. 24 Kansas — the second consecutive walk-off of her career against KU, the other in May of last year in Lawrence.

The 20th-ranked Knights improved to 34-11-1 with the win and are fifth in the Big 12, a game behind Kansas. They are currently in the midst of a four-game win streak.

At Olathe Northwest, she was a multi-sport athlete (softball, basketball, track) and earned Sunflower League Player of the Year honors.
