Thanks!!! We had an amazing turnout and great enthusiasm for youth mountain biking yesterday. About 8 new kids and families got their first taste of NICA. We had a few sign up the first day!

We were having so much fun talking to kids and families and riding bikes, we forgot to take any photos. So, here is just a cool race photo:

A few highlights about NICA:
- Open to boys and girls in 5th through 12th grades
- Kansas had 260+ riders on over a dozen teams last season
- We teach lifelong bike skills
- Racing is optional, but a huge community event for our league
- We help build and maintain trails for our communities
- There is no bench, everyone rides
- Races are based on skill levels allowing all riders a better experience
- Our team is 100% volunteers and parents
- Coaches must clear background checks and complete annual training
- We have scholarships available to make sure every kid who wants to participate can

These are just some of the things that make our league, our team, and our sport special.

Rail Creek Park Call-To-Action

If you haven't heard, Rail Creek Park has hit a snag with the Shawnee City Council, and it's at risk of being passed over for a visitor center at Old Shawnee Town.

There are a group of cyclists mobilizing on Monday, June 8, for the next Shawnee city council meeting. Cyclists of all ages are encouraged to attend and wear their helmet into the council chambers at Shawnee City Hall.

If you'd like to make a public comment during the meeting, you can sign up to do so at this link: https://cityofshawnee.civicweb.net/Portal/MeetingInformation.aspx?Org=Cal&Id=10201.

We are less than $200 from our league goal and the Trailblazers have raised over $1100. Just a couple of days left. We'd love to welcome more folks on the ride to support youth cycling and mountain biking in JoCo.
