Abnaki Archers

Well here is an update so to speak about the use of the range. I ran into Bob the landowner back on the 29th of April in the afternoon and he tells me that the range is available to be used. There are 30 or more targets set up and if you find one that is knocked over, please set it back up.

Also shooting at the range is by donations and there should be a box on the ATV building which is the first building as you are heading in on the left side.

He said enjoy and have fun.

So the good news is the trail is clear all the way down to Lane 11. The bad news is Lanes 11 all the way to the turn around and then coming back down towards the bridge and buildings (on your way out) has various diameter trees down on the trail as well as several lanes.

Lane 11 is the hardest hit lane with several blowdowns between the red stake and the target. As a matter of fact, you can't even see the target. Lane 11 is probably a full day if not two full days of cutting and removing whereas the rest of the trail and lanes are very easy to get done.

Here are some pictures standing at the trail looking down the lane towards the red stake. Red stake to the target is up to 15 yards away if you remember.

The black flies were out thick today and there is a couple of spots on the trail where you will need 4WD or AWD muck boots still. We are getting there. More damage this year than in the past years.

The trail is clear up to Lane 25 as of right now. All of the Lanes out in the field have been cleared and the first lane just on the other side of the range storage building has been cleared.

This is the large Poplar that came down on the other side of the bridge. Finishing up these last couple of cuts to get the big chunks out of the trail.

For those who know Bob, the land owner of the range, and if you haven't heard yet. Ann, his only child has passed away. Please keep Bob, Sue, JC and Jack in your prayers during this time.

These pictures were taken this past Monday around 4 pm. All of these are down between the cook shack and the first bend to the right on the trail and a couple of the shooting lanes.

Stan and I worked on the clearing of the trail yesterday so that people could walk it. Path is cleared all the way down to the bridge and just on the other side is one very large Poplar Tree. There is also trees down across some of the shooting lanes.

Stan is 8 weeks post shoulder surgery and we are trying to have a couple of shoots this year. The range did take a lot of damage from the high winds that we've had this past fall, winter and to date.

We will continue the work and will keep you all infomed.
