Our bodies were made to be strong.
We were built to lift things, run, jump, etc. It’s the way things have been since the dawn of time.
Nowhere in our biological identity did it say we are supposed to be sedentary, sit most of the day, sip on soda, and stare at a screen.
If you need to “get back to your roots” so to speak; find a good gym like ours.
Discover what your body is capable of. Your family, and yourself, will thank you.

Create a routine. Make it simple. Build it around your life. If you workout at the same time every day, you will continue to do so.
If you leave that up to circumstance and head out for your day, not knowing when you’ll head to the gym, you may miss your workout.

Today’s busy world of the rat race is slowly killing us, and most people are blissfully unaware. Overall, life expectancy has risen gradually for the last few decades. Still, we can argue the quality of those lives has decreased. A staggering 70% of Americans are now considered overweight.
Most of us wake up, rush out the door, hurry the kids off to school, and hope traffic isn’t as bad as it always is. Work requires us to stare at our big screens for hours, and we break that monotony to gaze at our little screens instead. We eat processed foods and tell ourselves everything is fine. We have access to more information than ever before. There are gyms everywhere. Yet, we somehow collectively have grown unhealthier.
Is it any wonder chronic disease, mental health issues, and stress are through the roof? We’ve designed this system we live in to go, go, go, and yet we are going nowhere fast.
We need more time to slow down to take care of ourselves so that we can care for our families. We need to spend time outside and stop watching the news. We need to say no to more work, and focus on those we care about. We need more good stress, like that of a hard workout.
Fortunately, for humanity’s sake, there are outliers. There are people who do their jobs well but place the importance of those jobs far below that of other priorities. There are those of us who refuse to fall into the marketing traps. There are those who educated themselves on how to eat like a human and how to train for life. There are some who now help teach others to do the same.
These individuals make up communities all over. They push themselves to be better, encourage others to do the same, and have transformed many lives. The way things have always been does not mean that’s the way they have to stay. There is hope. Come check out a CrossFit gym for yourself. As we “grow up,” we often forget to keep playing. Worse, we view play as trivial or something just for children.
Our productivity as a culture is at an all-time high. So why is our stress and associated conditions are also at an all-time high? Because we, as a collective society, have lost our way.
As adults, we typically pair our “play” with alcohol because most of the “fun” we have is accompanied by drinking. This is a double-edged sword we don’t even realize we’re falling on.
We’re not suggesting you don’t drink; moderation is key.
We’re just suggesting we actively “play” more for the sake of it.
The neat thing about a CrossFit gym is that it often feels like play. We look forward to our classes because we laugh, joke around, work out, and sometimes feel like a kid again.
Work will always exist, deadlines will need to be met, and the severe rush of the rat race will probably last a while.
So do yourself a favor and deliberately schedule fun into your life. If you can do that while simultaneously working out, even better.
