The Club was founded at the Ice Capades Chalet at the Mall of Memphis in 1982. The Mall was initially in a prime location, but reoccurring crime and a newer shopping plazas in safer parts of town lead to its downfall. In December 2003, the Mall closed its doors, inadvertently ending the dreams of many skaters. FSCM Skaters had no ice to call home and skated seasonally when the local professional
hockey team had ice at the local Civic Center. They were only able to acquire around an hour of ice weekly. Serious skaters sometimes sojourned to the closest permanent rinks, such as the Arkansas Skatium in Little Rock, AR and the Centennial Sportsplex in Nashville, TN, which are at minimum a two-hour drive. There didn't seem to be to much hope for any ice sports in area. In 2010, talk began to circulate about a permanent rink opening in Olive Branch, MS. Talk became reality in September 2011, when many disbelievers were awestruck as they walked through the doors to the new state-of-the-art facility. The FSCM is proud to start a grassroots figure skating program in the Greater Mid-South.
