Finally on the board with a bingo. We have actually been really busy for this time of the year. The tracks have resulted in back whacks, clean misses, and deer that we would have sworn were dead showing back on camera. This heat and dry weather has us limiting tracks to early morning or late evening and into the night.

We are ready to BINGO some deer in our 4th season of tracking. Good luck to all the hunters this year. We will cover essentially the western 2/3 of Kansas from the Oklahoma to the Nebraska border. A few points to remember.
🩸Physically mark the the last blood. Don’t rely on Onx or other apps to get you back to the exact location.
🩸You have heard it said before, but when in doubt back out. Strange things happen, especially during the rut. Deer can live a lot longer than people realize, even with a good shot. If the deer is pushed, chances of recovery diminish. If the deer is dead, it will still be dead in a few hours.
🩸If you lose blood, try to avoid stomping out the area with a large search party. If a dog is needed, this can make things difficult for the dog.
🩸Call us as soon as you think we may be needed. We can walk you through the shot and give you the best chance of recovery. We have literally seen 100’s of scenarios and we talk continuously to other trackers and get advice from them.
🩸Take pictures of the blood, arrow, and any other sign.
🩸Make as many mental notes as possible. How the deer was angled. The reaction to the shot. What the shot sounded like. If the deer ran or walked off. Where you last seen the deer. We will ask a bunch of questions over the phone, which will help us evaluate the situation.

Scent conditions have been absolutely brutal. It’s been very hot and hasn’t rained in weeks. We have been pushing through and prepping for the fall. We shorten the distance of tracks in these conditions. This 450 yard track is in the open, aged 26 hours, tracking shoes and hooves, and 4 drops of blood. It was windy, 105, and relative humidity in the teens. Aspen tracked it step for step. Less than a month before youth season 🦌🦮

Pups are almost 6 weeks old. Been introducing them to deer hide and hooves.

The pups are now 3 weeks old and getting to the fun stage of eyes and ears open. They are starting to explore and interact as well as developing personalities. With this is the spoiling phase. It’s hard to put these cute little buggers down.
