As a female trainer, nothing brings me more joy than helping women understand the importance of strength training. 💪❤️

So, seeing men on the treadmills while their wives were getting after it on the EGYM made my heart so happy! There’s something incredibly empowering about women prioritizing their strength, health, and confidence.

Want to learn more about why strength training is so important for women? Check out the blog I wrote about women and strength training, which was featured in Momaha Magazine in 2021: https://metroymca.org/blog/women-strength-training

You KNOW we love our UNO student visits! 💙

Keon, a Physical Education major at UNO, stopped by the Buena Vista YMCA Express to see what fitness looks like later in life—and to say he was surprised by what he saw is an understatement! 😄

He even joined a class and experienced it for himself! 💪🎉

We love showing the next generation that fitness has no age limit. Thanks for visiting us, Keon! 🙌

Celebrating Y160 Week the Buena Vista Y Express Way! 💙

Can you believe the first YMCA in Nebraska opened its doors in 1866 — 160 years ago! Even more amazing? That was just 15 years after the first YMCA opened in the United States.

Think about that for a minute. 160 years of showing up for the community. Generations have changed, communities have grown, and the needs of our neighbors have evolved, but the Y has continued to find ways to be there.

That’s what makes this history so special to me. It’s more than just a number. It’s a story of relevance, resilience and perseverance. The Y has lasted because it continues to meet people where they are and serve the community in meaningful ways.

And now, 160 years later, we get to be part of that story right here at the Buena Vista Y. 💙

Here’s to honoring where we’ve been, celebrating where we are, and continuing to show up for the next generation.

Happy Y160 Week! 🎉💙
