> > Soulful Saturday 7.0 - Week #6: oath
This morning, I went for a swim. I’ve neglected prioritizing exercise for some time, always trying to fit it into the nooks and crannies of my life, never really slowing down enough to intentionally give thanks to this body, this container, this miracle for what it actually does on a daily basis. I heard this song that took me down a music rabbit hole, one that was wildly unexpected. The no-skip album is a symphony of affirmations and encouragement, of reminders and permissions.
One of the lyrics says,
“I make peace with the past. This is the end of the old and I am beginning a new journey. Doors of opportunities are opening for me, and I am receiving every opportunity that aligns with my path and my higher self.”
And I could only think about how much energy and capacity and agency that I’ve expended on the past, on the doubt, on the regrets rather than focusing on the lesson, on the realignment, on the forward trajectory. But my thoughts weren’t surrounded with shame; rather, they were laced with gratitude. Because this is part of the journey.
