Today marks 2 years since I lost my son Cole to carbon monoxide poisoning. It didn’t have to happen. It was preventable. Please make sure you and your loved ones have working carbon monoxide detectors. Change the batteries regularly. No family should have to go through this heartbreak. Most fire departments will install a free one for you if you can’t. Here is the link for Omaha homeowners.

After many hours of following Jodi and looking at her bib, I began to read it as “World’s Toughest Jodi”. Congrats on finishing Badwater 135. Thanks for allowing Laurie Halpenny, Carrie McAdam, and myself, to witness your grit, gangster walk, and determination along the way.

Thank you so much Relax Pools!
It’s the 9th of the month- which means we get to announce RELAX GIVES winner. 💙
A little over a year ago Jodi Semonell received a phone call that no mother ever wants to receive. Her son had spent the night at a buddy’s house and tragically the three who were in the home passed away due to carbon monoxide poisoning.
This last August Jodi took on the daunting task of running ACROSS THE ENTIRE STATE OF NEBRASKA to raise funds to build a skate park here in Omaha in loving memory of her son, Cole, and his friend, Thomas Coleman.
Please help us congratulate Jodi Semonell in being this months Relax Gives winner.

Hello everyone! I am now taking orders for a very similar design to what I had on at the park on Thursday when Jodi arrived. It will be a charcoal black triblend Bella+Canvas t-shirt and a heather black hoodie. Jodi's path will be on the back and the longboard will be on the left front chest. Sizes are XS to 3XL in both styles. If you would be interested in a youth one, I am sure we can figure something out. The company that will be making them is also willing to donate a portion of the sales to getting the park built. Please comment here with what sizes, style, and quantity you will want. Adult shirts will be $30. Adult hoodies will be $43. 2xl and 3xl will be a couple dollars more in both styles. All orders need to be in by September 13th, 2023. I am still working on the payment part, it will a short window to get your payment submitted so we can get these going and to you ASAP.

Thank you to Abbie Petersen at KETV for sharing Jodi’s story, and helping to spread carbon monoxide poisoning awareness.
'He would be proud of what we're doing': Omaha mom raising awareness about carbon monoxide dangers after son's death
Navigating 365 days without her son has been an uphill battle for an Omaha mom — literally, and figuratively. "I can't believe it's been a year. It's been hard."

Jodi completed her Run Across Nebraska yesterday with 16 miles from Timber Creek Park to the Iowa border!
She had surprise visitors throughout the day, making it even more special.
To make it an even 16 miles, she went a little extra than needed - champagne in hand of course!
Again, thank you to everyone for being a part of this monumental effort.

Jodi had a huge turnout last night for her arrival at Timber Creek Park!
Thank you to everyone who supported her along the way. Whether you donated to the fundraising page, donated dinner or hotel rooms, provided words of encouragement, dropped off supplies, watched dogs, etc., Jodi’s Run Across Nebraska would not have been possible without your help.

One year ago today was the worst day of her life. A day no parent should never experience. It was preventable; it shouldn’t have happened. She’s running for this reason. She’s running to memorialize her son.
She hurts, physically and emotionally. Her body is swollen and tired. Yet, she keeps moving forward in this run and in life.

Day 10 started at 6:25. I didn’t get a photo at the start, as I basically kicked her out of my vehicle and said “go”. She slept and extra hour last night, which was much needed!
This is it! Final day. She will grind. She will get it done!! Let’s give her some love and support!

Day 9 is complete! She made it past Lincoln and will be starting about 5 miles from Eagle tomorrow. The last few days have been really challenging, but of course Jodi can do hard things!
