✨Swimmer Spotlight✨
Meet Jacob! Jacob is a very sweet 14 year old whose family drives almost 30 minutes to the pool each week after having received a scholarship through The Violet Hour Foundation.
Jacob's mom says, "So many things are 'off limits' for Jacob because of his high level of need. This is the perfect opportunity for him. In the water he can feel happy. Feel fulfilled. Feel FREE from the weight of this world."
Thank you to The Violet Hour Foundation for sponsoring Jacob and the three other scholarship recipients for one on one lessons. And thank you to Jacob's family for trusting us to teach him. We've been enjoying every splash, smile, and sound he's made. Because we know that Jacob communicates differently and those loud, echoing sounds he makes...are his way of telling us that he does indeed feel happy, fulfilled, and free 🤍

Participating in swim lessons during ages 1-4 decreases the likelihood that your little one will drown by 88%. To promote water safety as pools begin to open, we have had the pleasure of hosting the Down Syndrome Alliance of the Midlands Little Ones group for an adaptive swim series! 💙💛

It's been one week and we aren’t done bragging about how amazing the first Day of Commitment to Inclusive Water Safety was! Every family was able to choose between a variety of floats to practice being safe. We even had a special visit from OPD and they were kind enough to let one of our kids practice speaking on their radio! This is inclusion in action 🤍

For people with intellectual and/or developmental differences, pre-teaching can make all the difference when being safe at the pool!
Pre-teaching is reviewing guidelines and the reasons something is unsafe before placing expectations in the moment. Because when someone is excited to get in the pool, they may communicate it any way they can. Maybe that communication is throwing something less than ideal in the pool- like their shoes, towel, or even a phone. But with our community resource fair, we were able to provide pre-teaching in ways that support our swimmers' learning styles!
From cut/paste activities, to a find the lifeguard activity, scavenger hunt, sorting safe vs. unsafe things a swimmer does at the pool, and things that can vs. cannot go in a pool, every swimmer was able to make a connection from what they learned in the gym, to the things they do at the pool.
It was truly magical to see the 'lightbulb' moments when something resonated with a swimmer! 💡💡

May 17, 2026 was a day we will always remember. It was the first Day of Commitment to Inclusive Water Safety for the city of Omaha, in accordance with a proclamation signed by Mayor John W. Ewing, Jr..
All of us at All-Inclusive Aquatics have always understood the importance of inclusion, access, and opportunity. While we facilitate aquatic opportunities with our swim, therapy, and recreational programs, we are only one organization.
We see so much success in each program participant. Yet when they go to the pool with their families, they aren't always welcomed. Directly, some of our families have been asked to leave pools because their swimmer was having a meltdown and while they were able to regulate themselves, it had already "caused a disturbance" to other guests. Indirectly, some of our families have had to leave pools because their swimmer's privacy and humility was not respected during a medical emergency.
This proclamation is a reminder to the families we work with that we will do everything to make them feel welcome, not only when they are in the pool with us, but at all pools. To educate the community that everyone deserves a chance to live their best lives. Because as the proclamation says, "lasting access requires the support and commitment of the broader community".
And so with that, we will continue to urge all those around us to recognize that competence and independence looks different for everyone-but everyone is capable in their own capacity.

Today is the day! 🥳
Don't forget-we will have 4 lanes in the pool available for families to get in! Our team of instructors will have 4 sizes of lifejackets in different styles, ALL these floats...and more! While you may not take them home, we invite you to try them out and see what works best to keep your loved one safe. 🤍
We kindly ask that at least one adult get in with each family, but if you are unable to, we will have a limited number of volunteers available to help your loved one.
Day of Commitment to Inclusive Water Safety

Our shirts for the Day of Commitment to Inclusive Water Safety are here! We approach everything we do with intention and are beyond excited to share this design with everyone.
The phrase Regulate. Advocate. Swim. Repeat. isn’t just a catchy phrase. It’s what we stand by.
Regulate: Safely coping with emotions in response to environments and demands
Advocate: Educating others, encouraging acceptance, and facilitating inclusion for all
Swim: Moving through the water; whether recreationally or therapeutically
We heard countless stories of families not being welcomed at pools. It doesn't matter if someone needs accommodations or additional time to process information before they can be safe. That doesn't justify exclusion. That justifies the need to educate and advocate, which is exactly why we decided to take action.
We called the City Council and connected with the Mayor's office. Mayor John W. Ewing, Jr. is proclaiming the third Sunday of May as an annual Day of Commitment to Inclusive Water Safety. We will be at Omaha Home for Boys this Sunday for an open-house style event focused on empowering those of all abilities to learn water safety in a way that allows them to be independent and successful in aquatic settings. There will be opportunities to get in the pool, do crafts, play games, and interact with community partners who believe in our mission.
While this proclamation was prompted by exclusion, we hope this day will empower others to recognize that individuals of all abilities belong in the pool. We see you, accept you, and will continue to advocate for you.
