The Corn Belt League is excited to announce our first new hire for the 2027 Season. We welcome Joshua Guptel to Omaha for his first summer with the CBL!

Coach Guptel currently serves as the Pitching Coach at Great Bay Community College and brings more than 20 years of coaching experience to the league. His background also includes coaching summer baseball in the NECBL, giving him valuable experience in the collegiate summer baseball environment. Guptel looks forward to bringing his experience to Omaha, helping players continue to grow and compete at the collegiate level.

Fall ball is officially underway and while players are focused on getting better this fall, we’re working on what’s next for the Corn Belt League.
🔴 Coaches are being hired
🔵 Facility & League improvements are being made
🔴 Plans for the 2027 season are taking shape
🔵 And we’re getting ready for another summer of collegiate baseball in Omaha

With that said, early registrations for the 2027 season are underway. Now is a great time for college players to start thinking about where they want to spend their summer. The early bird registration is available now thru Thanksgiving. Don’t wait till the spring to figure out where you’re playing. Register early and get in the league at the lowest price. We want you to be a part of the 2027 CBL Season!

Awesome to see former CBL player Matt Keating (’20 Black Sox / ‘21 Filthballers) now pitching for the Somerset Patriots, the AA affiliate of the New York Yankees.

Even better? Matt’s former CBL coach, Sonny Sunagel, recently made the trip to watch him pitch this past weekend in Akron. A pretty cool full-circle moment from the summers he spent in the Corn Belt League to where he is today! We’re excited to keep following along.

Mike Knockenhauer caught up with Colton Blakley of Redlands Baseball following the Championship Game after his clutch 3-run home run helped power the Black Sox to the tournament title.

Blakley was a force throughout the postseason, collecting seven hits in four games. His run included a game winning hit in the play-in game, a game-tying hit against the 1-seed, and then a huge 3-run homer in the title game.
