Yoga for Every-Body

11/04/2024

I've been getting some questions about the structure of the class I will start teaching on Thursday, so here is the official description:

Join us for a unique and rejuvenating Restorative & Somatic Yoga class that blends the calming essence of restorative yoga with the mindful, body-centered practices of somatic movement. This class is designed to create deep relaxation, release tension, and promote greater body awareness. Restorative poses, supported by props, encourage complete relaxation and deep rest, while somatic techniques guide you to move with intention and connect with your body's natural rhythms. Perfect for all levels, this class provides a gentle, nurturing space to soothe your nervous system, enhance mobility, and cultivate a profound sense of inner balance and wellbeing. Come and unwind as you reconnect with your body and mind, fostering holistic healing and relaxation.

If you want to sign up, here is the link! The drop-in fee is $20. I am super excited and hope to see some familiar faces there!

Messy bun is on point and the sweat puddles are massive! This is what happens when you forget your towel during a 45 minute ride! 🥵

Also, if your looking for a good stretch after work today, join me in the Vinyasa Basics class at Karma Yoga Omaha today at 5:30!!

I found myself on my mat this morning struggling with a pose I thought was getting easier for me. There were several attempts before this video. I didn’t realize I held my breath (a big no-no) until I watched this and heard the exhale after I finally got my feet off the ground. Some days are like that…just a touch harder than others. Sometimes they feel A LOT harder than they should be. I have to remind myself to take them one at a time and that I have more great days than I do bad.

Also, if you are local to Omaha, I’m going to be subbing for the Beginner Ashtanga class on August 26th at 6:00 pm at Karma Yoga. DM me if you have questions about the practice or want to know how to get signed up!

I most definitely didn’t ’feel like it’ today so I picked a workout I had done before because it was one less decision to make…ended up setting a new PR for a 45 minute ride. Some times it’s just a matter of putting one foot in front of the other, or rather, one pedal stroke…

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted…life got a little crazy right after certification as I pivoted my focus to my son’s high school graduation and now we are deep into baseball season. Getting on the mat has been a bit tougher as well since it is also training season. Trying to fit in swimming, biking, running, and some strength training along with everything else has been a bit of a challenge. But, I did manage some plank work this morning.

So, to all of you who are trying to fit it all in…I see you! Give yourself some grace and don’t forget to let yourself rest, too!

XOXO

When your YTT group suggests we each get a yin/yang tattoo, you go get the freaking yin/yang tattoo (sorry for the shot of my armpit)! 😁

There’s a lot that I love about the process of working out, but one of the things I love the most is the impact it has on my mental health. I tend to be a pretty type A personality and, while I know that failure and disappointment is all part of growth, I still struggle with it. So, it was exactly what I needed to hear this morning when Robin Arzon said that failure is just an unfinished opportunity. What a wonderful perspective! Getting knocked down is part of life, it’s what we do with that experience that matters. It’s never too late and you’re never too old to try something new. Here’s to picking ourselves back up and carrying on.

On the eve of taking the Yoga Certification test tomorrow it feels appropriate to share some screen grabs from a video I took of my practice yesterday.

There is no such this as perfect…it’s called ‘yoga practice’ not ‘yoga perfect’ for a reason. But, as I’ve learned more, gotten stronger and increased my mind-body connection, I feel like there has been improvement. It feels good to see the progress.

Yoga by the pool with two of my besties…what a wonderful way to spend the afternoon and to teach my last class as a yoga teacher in training!

Thank you to these two and to everyone who has supported me on this journey!!

Here’s to many more flows by the pool this summer!
