Colin Edwards would quickly close the gap and retake the lead of the race… and just when it looked like it would be the first premier class victory for Edwards, Nicky Hayden would go full send around the outside heading into the Geert Timmer chicane…. Hayden would go through the gravel trap while Colin Edwards overshot the chicane and crashed

It would be Nicky Hayden’s second career victory while Colin Edwards pushed his Camel Yamaha to a thirteenth place finish
