Diversity and Inclusion Panel Discussion on Women Empowerment at the Table Tennis US Open (2023, December in Ontario, California) USA Table Tennis
Barbara Wei (moderator), Dora Kurimay (Chair of the USATT USATT Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee), Tom Feng (Secretary of the USATT DEI), Donna Sakai (Hall of Fame)
At the panel discussion, all the guests shared their personal experience of being a table tennis player and/or coach in the US and their insight on how to increase female players’ participation. They discussed the challenges and possible solutions to retaining youth female table tennis players and the benefit of the sport that helps them to stay with it in the long run. There was a Q & A at the end of the discussion and we had great conversations.

It was a fun USATT Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Panel Discussion on Women’s Empowerment at the US Open on Monday. The panelists and the participants discussed how to increase and retain women participation and bring more people to play table tennis in the US. Thank you for everyone’s contributions who participated at the discussion!

USA Table Tennis (“USATT”) announced the winners of the World Peace Guitar Giveaway Creative Expression Contest organized as part of USATT’s efforts to celebrate the organization’s historic 90th Anniversary and honor the legacy of Ping Pong Diplomacy. USATT Members Aria Shi, Andrea Tang, and Gianna Gupta were the three finalists selected by USATT’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee, who served as the judges of the contest submissions. All three of the finalists earned a free entry into the 2023 US National Table Tennis Championships in Fort Worth this summer (July 3 – 7), as well as a USATT prize pack.
