WORLD GAMES 2026
Last week, New York competed in the GAA World Games in Waterford, Ireland, with Rockland GAA proudly represented by players and coaches on both the Hurling and Camogie teams.

Rockland's representatives included hurlers Cormac O'Reilly and Owen O'Toole, with Johnny Hannagan serving on the management team. On the Camogie side, Susan Keaney was part of the management team, while Claire Mahoney (co-captain), Katherine Carstensen, Sorcha Hayes, Orla Hayes, Laura Goodman, Fiona Doherty, Maggie Glynn, Meghan Treanor, and Áine Keaney represented both New York and Rockland with distinction.

Played in warm, sunny conditions throughout the week at the SETU Waterford campus, both New York teams performed strongly in the group stages to earn their place on Finals Day at Azzurri Walsh Park.

The Camogie team faced US GAA South East in the final, a side made up of players from clubs across Tennessee, North Carolina, Georgia, and several other states. New York controlled much of the contest from the opening whistle. Claire Mahoney opened the scoring seven minutes into the game and finished with an impressive 0-5, earning Player of the Match honors. New York led 0-4 to 0-0 at halftime before securing a convincing 1-7 to 0-1 victory to become World Games champions.

The Hurling final followed, with New York taking on Pearse Óg San Francisco. It was a closely contested match throughout, with both sides exchanging scores in an entertaining battle. New York held their nerve to come away with a 2-6 to 1-7 victory. Rockland's Cormac O'Reilly made a major contribution, scoring 1-2 in the championship-winning performance.

Congratulations to all of our Rockland representatives and the entire New York Hurling and Camogie squads on an outstanding week in Waterford and on bringing home two GAA World Games titles. Your club is incredibly proud of your achievements.
