Meadow Senior Spotlight
TAYLOR HERNANDEZ
Taylor began her swim career as a Meadow Dolphin at the age of 8. It was the sport that all her Glorietta classmates were doing and she was up for the task. Even at a young age, Taylor was always one for trying something new. With an open mind, great coaching, and peer support, Taylor was soon swimming like a natural. The collection of ribbons, awards, plus closets and drawers of Meadow swag soon began to amass.
Over the years Taylor branched out and tried other sports including water polo (GO LADY MATS!), the high school swim team, and most recently lacrosse!! As a freshman, Taylor decided a week before school started, that she wanted to join the high school water polo team! A sport she had tried at a younger age, but didnât pursue. Thatâs the way she is though, not afraid to take chances and see what new experiences she can have. Her leap into water polo yielded her many life memories and friendships she will have beyond her years at Miramonte. Through the years of growing and finding her way, summer swim team at Meadow has always been at the core of her activities. Those early years as a Dolphin were a great foundation for her to springboard with confidence as she got older.
The highlight of summer has always been OMPA and the events and team building leading up to the most epic swim meet of the year. With her spirit and yearning to do the very best she can to help her team, the snow cones, braided hair, and temporary tattoos just added to the amazing environment she was a part of for the last decade! Though this is the last year of swim team, the impact will be lifelong.
Taylor has had some of her best times along side her Meadow team mates, and together they have grown up around the pool. Unceremoniously she has been denied her final year of swim team, pool events, trips, and the final swim at OMPA! Though this is a bummer, she has had an amazing ride at Meadow and will ALWAYS be a Meadow Dolphin in her heart.
Taylor will be attending Loyola Marymount University in the fall majoring in marketing. There she will be close to something that is very important to her, and something she loved from her earliest age of swimmingâŚ.the water. Swim fast, swim hard Taylor. Just like everything else you do in life, you will be successful!

MEADOW SENIOR SPOTLIGHT
CAYLEY O'BRIEN
Although Cayley began her OMPA career as a âMini Stingerâ at Orinda Park Pool, she became a Meadow Dolphin at age 10 and never looked back. She instantly fell in love with the competitive atmosphere, team spirit and was happy to be closer to her Glorietta friends. For her, Meadow was not only an opportunity to improve her swimming skills, but also a comfortable place where she could be herself and build friendships.
When she was little, she worked hard to âperfectâ her stroke, dives and turns and would practice over and over until she mastered it as best she could. Like many young swimmers, she was scared and in tears at her first several swim meets, but she eventually looked forward to the competition, the excitement and cheering on her teammates. She made it her goal to become a junior coach, and began coaching the mini-dolphin program the summer after eighth grade. Cayley coached up until this summer and got so much joy out of spending time with the younger swimmers.
Over the years, Cayley made countless unforgettable memories at Meadow. Every summer, Cayley looked forward to spending time at the pool again. She would often say she didnât want to go on family vacations, as she wanted to be at the pool as much as possible. From cool Wednesday night meets to long days under the sun on the pool deck, Cayley enjoyed every minute. Although she is disappointed that she didnât get to finish out her final summer, she is grateful for the opportunities this team gave her and is thankful that she was able to be a part of such an amazing community for so long. She would like to thank all the coaches for their support over the years and especially Matt Armanini for always believing in her.
Cayley graduated from Miramonte High School at the beginning of June and will be attending Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo to major in Journalism. Although she will truly miss summers at Meadow, she is excited to move on to her next adventure!

MEADOW SENIOR SPOTLIGHT
CHLOE MORRISON:
Chloe started swimming at age 3 as a Meadow Mini-Dolphin. That summer she swam her first race, clocking a blazing 2:38 in the 25 freestyle (with a little help from Coach Travis Townsend who was in the pool with her). By age 4, she was racing with a both a legal butterfly and a legal breaststroke (much to her coachesâ surprise). Chloe caught the Meadow Fever and was thrilled to win the Meadow Mini Meet 25 free at age 6. That same summer at the Blackhawk Relays, at age 6, she swam 100 free in a progressive relay and totally rocked it with flip turns (neither the coaches nor her parents were aware that she knew how to do a flip turn- neither did she before the start of the race! ) Proud moments followed including winning Meadow high point for 6-Us, 7-8s, 9-10s, and 11-12s, breaking some records, and many successes at OMPA along with her awesome teammates.
At age 12, Chloe was about to go year-round with Orinda Aquatics, but then, like many other swimmers, she fell in love with water polo (thanks Kim Everist!!!) , succumbed to the Dark Side, and became âwater polo first, swimming secondâ. More exciting times in the water polo world followed, with the added bonus of numerous trips to So Cal and frolicking with her Lamorinda teammates on the beautiful Orange County beaches (and also some in Italy and Spain). But, despite being a year-round water polo player, her love for Meadow kept going, and she continued to swim as a Dolphin every summer (with one brief detour to MCC to swim for Marc Cavallero).
Fast forward to Miramonte High School: Chloe made the Varsity water polo team as a freshman, and was an all-league selection as a sophomore (that same year - 2017- the Lady Mats went undefeated, and won both NCS and CIF). As a junior, she was all-league second team. As a senior, Chloe was a team captain, recipient of the Chris Lloyd Spirit Award (voted on by her teammates), was first team all-league, and was proud to play with her Lady Mats teammates in the NCS final.
Chloe also excelled in the classroom. She was a North Coast Section CIF Scholar Athlete and earned USAWP Academic All-American Outstanding Honors. She has chosen to attend Santa Clara University (Go Broncos!!!) where she will play Division 1 water polo and major in psychology with the hope to someday become a psychologist and help others.
Chloe is heartbroken that her last Meadow swim season (and all the fun with her friends, teammates, and awesome coaches), and last OMPA, are cancelled. Her favorite Meadow memories include Hot Summer Nights, the Intrasquad meet with themes, Rewards Dinner, and spending all of her childhood summers with her friends at the pool. She has had many great mentors and would like to thank Travis Townsend, Tony Ravnik, Chris Horner, Joe Natina, Marc Cavallero, Matt Ehrenberger, and Matt Armanini. All these swim coaches helped shaped her into the person and athlete that she is.
One last thing: ITâS GREAT TO BE A MEADOW DOLPHIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
