20+ years in the fight game. Countless rounds. Countless fights. Countless lessons learned the hard way.

Long before MMA was mainstream, Jay Estrada was helping pave the way on the local fight scene. A true veteran of the sport, Jay never focused on collecting belts or chasing rank. His focus was always the same: show up, put in the work, grind and improve little by little.

That mindset is exactly why this promotion means so much.

A brown belt isn't awarded for time served—it's earned through years of dedication, resilience, and a depth of knowledge that can only come from experience. Jay has all of that in abundance.

We're proud to promote Jay to brown belt and grateful to have him on our mats and in our community. Congratulations, Jay.

20+ years on the mats. And if you’ve ever rolled with Ryan, you can see it immediately in the way he moves. Smooth, technical, efficient… the kind of fluidity that only comes from countless rounds, countless lessons, and years of experience that can’t be faked.

Even with all that experience, Ryan never chased belts while focusing on NoGi and MMA. Tonight we had the honor of changing that and promoting him to brown belt.

More important than the belt itself has been the impact he’s already had on our academy. Humble, knowledgeable, always willing to help, and always willing to share what he knows. The kind of person every gym hopes to have in their community.

Proud to have you with us, Ryan. Now, maybe, we'll see you in a Gi class. 🤔

The girls of Valor Jiu-Jitsu spent this past Saturday celebrating each other. Sometimes being a girl on the mats is hard and we're committed to making sure these girls know they're not alone! We're so proud of the community they're building together. Cheers to them and their moms for being the strongest girls we know.👑💪🏽🩷
