Repair Starts With Acknowledgment

Sometimes we rush. We interrupt or move on before a patient has finished speaking.

When that happens, we should pause and say:

“I interrupted you, and I’m sorry. I want to hear what you were saying.”

Then listen. Ask what would help and follow through.

For survivors who have been dismissed before, how we respond in that moment matters. Healthcare teams build trust when our actions show that we heard them.

What helps you recognize when a conversation needs a reset?

Healing doesn’t erase your story. It changes what happens next.

What happened to you may be part of your story, but it does not have to determine the rest of it.

Who Says You Can’t Heal? was written for survivors who are ready to move beyond simply getting through the day and begin discovering what healing can look like for them.

Inside, I share practical strategies, affirmations, reflection exercises, and encouragement designed to help you reconnect with your voice, recognize your strength, and move forward at your own pace.

Healing is realizing your past doesn’t get to have the final word.

Who says you can’t heal?

Maybe it’s time to challenge that question.

What Are Readers Saying About What Every Provider Should Know?

“Practical & compassionate.”
“Easy to understand.”
“A critical gap in healthcare education.”

And one statement that says it all:

“This book should be required reading for all healthcare professionals.”

I wrote What Every Provider Should Know: A Trauma-Informed Guide for Healthcare Professionals because trauma-informed care cannot simply be something we talk about. It has to show up in the way we communicate, the choices we offer, and the care our patients actually experience.

If you work in healthcare, or know someone who does, this book belongs in the conversation.

Empowerment Starts With Choice!

Empowerment doesn’t mean patients control every aspect of their care.

It means we recognize the places where we can return choice.

“Would you like me to explain before we begin?”

“Do you have questions?”

“Would you like a support person present?”

“Are you ready for me to continue?”

Small choices can restore a sense of control during a vulnerable experiences.

Trauma-informed care is not extra work. It’s a better way to provide the care you’re already giving.

What Every Provider Should Know: A Trauma-Informed Guide for Healthcare Professionals was written to help healthcare professionals move beyond understanding trauma-informed care to putting it into practice.

Inside, I share practical guidance to help you communicate with greater awareness, preserve patient dignity and choice, recognize how trauma may show up during healthcare encounters, and create safer, more survivor-centered experiences.

Whether you work at the bedside, in leadership, education, or another healthcare setting, this book gives you practical strategies you can use in everyday care.

Because how we provide care matters just as much as the care we provide.

You Are Enough

You do not have to prove your strength.

You are allowed to move at your own pace, protect your peace, and give yourself the same compassion you so freely give to others.

Healing is not measured by how quickly you move forward. Some days, choosing to honor what you need is progress.

Today, remind yourself: I am allowed to care for myself without explanation or apology.

Give yourself permission to choose one thing today that supports your peace.

Healing doesn’t mean every day is easy.

There may be days when you feel strong and days when getting through the day takes more from you than anyone realizes.

On those days, please don’t feel like you have to carry everything by yourself.

Reach out. Talk to someone you trust. Allow someone to sit with you in the hard moments.

Sometimes you just need someone willing to listen.
