May can be so stressful for teens! Make it a point to remind your kids of all the good in them and in their lives. They will want to focus more on what is not going right and all the stress and negative emotion they might be feeling. Especially the ones trying really hard to do a good job, your rule-following, hard-working, overachievers — remind them they are more than those achievements and awards. It’s about the person they’re becoming as they overcome each obstacle, make decisions, and go after those big goals. Help them see how amazing they are, how much they’ve grown, and all the things they can look forward to. There’s a fine line between anxiety and excitement, let’s help them tip the scale a little more to the positive side. 😅💕

As moms, one of our deepest desires is to know our kids will be okay when they leave home and go out in the world on their own.

If we could only be certain and know exactly what to do to guarantee their safety and success, we would feel so much peace, knowing they would be fine, no matter what.

But we can’t see the future and anticipate every single obstacle they’ll face, what they’ll struggle with, or what they’ll fail at and have to overcome. We can’t know what choices they’ll make and how those decisions will affect their path in life.

What we can do, however, is give them the tools.

We can teach them skills and values they can apply to whatever comes their way. We can help them develop the ability to think quality thoughts so they can make decisions that increase the chances of success. We can give them a safe place to fail, so they learn how to get up and keep going without giving up.

We can do so much without being certain and in the process be at peace with the person we see our child becoming.

This is where a positive parenting strategy can make the biggest difference. You can’t get this peace of mind or evidence that it’s working if you’re relying on punishment and consequences alone to “curb” behavior.

You have to use more effective strategies to give your kids a chance to grow up into happy, healthy, thriving adults.

Message me if you want to learn more about how to break free from constant conflict and frustration. I’ll show you how to parent from a place of calm, love, and connection. It works, and it’s gentle on kids AND moms both. 💕

It’s a how it started/how it ended moment. 😂 This year’s version of our Easter egg hunt was its own kind of special — including all the mishaps. It looks bad, but no one was hurt! 😅

When your kids get older, it can be harder to find fun things to do as a family. Little kids love playing games and doing whatever you suggest. But with teenagers, you have to be more careful with what you pick. Don’t worry though, they still like spending time with you and doing a version of the fun stuff you’ve always done since they were little. In fact, they will ask for it when you think they might have outgrown your family traditions, so don't give up on finding ways to connect. Keep doing things together and enjoy every single moment. 💕

The thought and care you take when packing school lunches so that are healthy and also something your kids will actually want to eat. Your willingness to learn to play the games they like, or learn to like their music, or ask them to tell you more about something they’re really into. The hugs and words of encouragement you give when you see them struggling. Every time you put your phone away and give them your time and full attention. The way you give them room to be, by knowing when to offer help and advice and when to just listen. When you ask about their friends and enjoy hearing their stories and getting to know them. The way you are gentle with their dreams and ideas without judging them. Even the way your eyes light up when you see them walk in the door.

It’s so easy to forget how much love and connection we can create within our daily routine. On those days when you wonder if you’re doing enough for your kids, remember the little things. Think back to your day and find those moments when you showed up as your most loving self. I’m sure the list is pretty long. 💕

In the meantime, let’s chat about how to handle all that stress and worry that comes while you’re waiting for your child to show progress. This is part of your parenting role too, and it can quickly become overwhelming and unhealthy for you when you lose sleep overthinking and worrying and ignore your own needs. I can help you parent in a more calm, positive way that doesn't hurt your relationship with your child long-term, AND allows you to also feel more confident and at peace with yourself. Message me to set up a time to talk. I'm here for you. 💕
