South Orlando YMCA WELCOME TO THE SOUTH ORLANDO YMCA

We’re committed to improving the lives of all of our members throughout Orange County and Central Florida!

The South Orlando YMCA is part of the YMCA of Central Florida and serves as a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening the community by connecting children, teens, adults, and seniors to their potential, purpose, and each other. Our family center is located between Padgett Park and Vogt-Meloon Park, just off West Oak Ridge Road. We’re a vital part of our community and thanks to the generosity of our partners—including Lockheed Martin, Darden, and Microsoft—we’re able to provide a variety of high-quality programs. Children and teens can play sports and enjoy After School Care, adults can join a pick-up league, and seniors can participate in Silver Sneakers. As a leading nonprofit, we work side-by-side with our neighbors to make sure that everyone has a place to learn, grow, and thrive.

💗🎀 A weekend packed with resources, awareness, and community!

This past weekend, we hosted our annual Breast Cancer Awareness Zumbathon at the South Orlando YMCA, bringing our community together to dance, connect, and honor those who are currently fighting or have fought the battle against breast cancer.

In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we moved with purpose, celebrated survivors, remembered loved ones, and stood together to raise awareness for a cause that touches so many lives. 💕💃🏽

Thank you to everyone who came out, showed support, and helped make the night meaningful! Together, we continue to build a healthier community, one step and one beat at a time.

Celebrating culture, creativity and community! ❤️💙💛

To celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, the YMCA of Central Florida’s Hispanic Latino Leadership Network (HLLN) came together at Orlando City Hall for the 20th City of Orlando Hispanic Heritage Month Art Exhibition.

Featuring 27 local artists inspired by this year’s theme, “Unidos, Somos Más,” the exhibition was a beautiful celebration of the history, culture and contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities.

🎨 Artwork featured by:
• Zhane’ Arrington
• Radisha James

We’re proud to celebrate the stories, creativity and perspectives that make our Central Florida community so vibrant. ❤️

Flashback Friday! 💙

A little look back at a day dedicated to celebrating our team members — the people who bring the Y’s mission to life every day.

Our All-Employee Wellness Fair gave our team a chance to connect, recharge and prioritize their well-being through Group Exercise, wellness vendors, healthy snacks, food demos, smoothies, massages and more.

At the Y, we believe caring for our community starts with caring for the people who serve it. 💙

A special thank you to our community partners for helping us create a meaningful day of wellness and connection for our team!

When we invest in families, we strengthen our entire community. 🥕 💙

Through the generous support of the Winn-Dixie Give Back Foundation and the Florida State Alliance of YMCAs, the YMCA of Central Florida was able to turn grant funding into meaningful support for families across Central Florida.

Because of this investment, we were able to:

🛒 Provide grocery gift cards to all 15 YMCA Family Centers and Learning Centers, giving staff the opportunity to support families connected to the Y who were experiencing a need.

🥫 Support the Seminole County Department of Health and The Sharing Center’s food distribution, serving 70 families.

📦 Stock 5 community food pantries at Lancaster Elementary School, Oakridge Neighborhood Center, OCPS ACE, Total Restoration Transformation Center, and CBM Community Cares Outreach.

🥦 Attend the MIND Your Health Event in Parramore, providing fresh produce to 50 families and donating the remaining produce to the Boys & Girls Club to continue supporting youth and families throughout the day.

🚌 Through Y on the Fly, incorporate nutrition education, enrichment, and access to fresh food into our fall programming at M.I.L.L.S. Child Development Center, South Orlando Head Start, Central Florida YMCA Learning Center, Washington Shores Primary Learning Center, and Kidzville Academy over 5 weeks.

❤️ Partner with Cru Inner City to provide meal cards and canned goods for their annual Boxes of Love, supporting inner-city churches as they prepare Thanksgiving meal boxes for families in their communities.

🍎 Close out our food distribution efforts at Lake Buena Vista Learning Center, providing food support to 100 VPK students and their families.

This grant was more than funding—it was an opportunity to meet families where they are, put food on tables, support children, strengthen community partners, and create access to resources when they were needed most.

We are incredibly grateful to the Winn-Dixie Give Back Foundation and the YMCA Florida Alliance for believing in the power of community and giving us the opportunity to make an even greater impact.

Together, we’re helping build stronger families, healthier communities, and a stronger Central Florida. 💙🥕
