🏃‍♂️ Back at it again! 3 miles in!

Today’s run had me thinking about something I’m still learning…

You have to show up for yourself before you can show up for everyone else.

That can be hard.

There is always something that needs to get done. Work, family, responsibilities, people who need you… and somehow the easiest person to push to the bottom of the list is yourself.

I know I do it.

But these runs have become my time to put myself first for a little while.

Today it was 3 miles.

Three miles where I didn’t have to do anything for anyone else. I could just run, think, breathe, clear my head, and take care of ME.

And I came back feeling positive, motivated, and ready for everything else.

I’m starting to realize that putting yourself first sometimes isn’t taking something away from the people around you. It can actually help you give them a better version of yourself.

You can’t always pour from an empty cup.

So today I showed up for myself first.

3 miles in. Now let’s see what the rest of the day brings! 💪🏃‍♂️

Whatever your version of my run is—martial arts, the gym, a walk, reading, or just sitting quietly for a few minutes—make some time for YOU.

Show up for yourself, too. You’re worth showing up for.

🏃‍♂️ Tuesday run IN!

I wasn’t planning on doing anything crazy today. Usually I’m good with getting my 2 miles in and calling it a win.

But today I got to 2 and just thought… nah, I’m not done yet. 😂

So I kept going.

3 miles in!

It’s still kind of crazy to me that I’m at a point where I WANT to keep running. If you would have told me a while back that I’d finish 2 miles and voluntarily decide to do another one, I probably would have laughed at you.

But here we are. 😂

And I have to say, the amount of love I’ve been getting from everyone about these posts and my running has been amazing.

Seriously… THANK YOU! ❤️

People have stopped me to talk about it, sent me messages, commented, encouraged me, and shared their own experiences. I really appreciate all of it.

I started running for me. Just trying to get out, clear my head, put some time into myself, and see where it went.

Somewhere along the way, you guys became part of it too.

And I love that.

Today I needed 3 miles.

Tomorrow I might struggle through 2. 😂 And that’s okay.

I’m just going to keep showing up and see where this thing takes me.

Thank you for coming along for the ride… or I guess the run. 😂🏃‍♂️

🏃‍♂️☀️ WHAT A BEAUTIFUL DAY! TAKE SOME TIME FOR YOURSELF.

Sometimes, you just need to step away from everything for a little while and do something for YOU.

For me, running has become one of those things. It’s time to clear my head, enjoy the fresh air, take in the beautiful day, and focus on the moment. No pressure, no expectations—just me, my feet hitting the pavement, and the opportunity to recharge. 🙌

Life gets busy. Between work, family, responsibilities, and everything else that demands our attention, it’s easy to put ourselves at the bottom of the list.

But I’ve learned that taking time for yourself isn’t selfish. It’s important!

🥋 The same goes for martial arts.

Stepping onto the mats gives you a chance to disconnect from the daily grind, challenge yourself, work on your fitness, and bring your focus back to the present. Sometimes, that’s exactly what you need to reset and get ready for whatever comes next.

You don’t always need to set a big goal or push yourself to the limit. Sometimes, you just need to get outside, move your body, breathe, and appreciate the day.

☀️ So, if you’ve been waiting for a sign to take a little time for yourself, THIS IS IT!

Get out there. Go for that walk, take that run, hit the gym, or come train with us. You deserve that time, too.

🏃‍♂️☀️ CAN’T SAY NO TODAY!

On a beautiful morning like this, there’s no way I’m not running into the day! 🙌

Today was one of those AMAZING runs where everything just seemed to fall into place.

☕ Woke up and had my coffee.
📱 Caught up with some good friends.
🎶 Got some good vibes going on Pandora.
👟 Got ready, headed out the door, and started running!

And just like that… the run was incredible! 💪🔥

You know those days when the energy is right, your mind feels clear, the music hits just right, and you feel genuinely happy to be doing what you’re doing? Today was one of those days.

These are the moments that put the cherry on top of the cake. 🍒🎂 They remind me why I keep showing up, even on the days when getting started feels like a struggle.

🥋 It’s the same with martial arts.

Some days, training feels tough. Other days, everything clicks. But you have to keep showing up to experience those moments when your hard work, mindset, and effort all come together.

You never know what kind of day you’re going to have until you get out there and give yourself a chance!

So get moving, find your rhythm, and make the most of the day. You might surprise yourself! 👊

🏃‍♂️🥋 COULD NOT STAY AWAY!!

I wasn’t planning on going for a run today. BUT… I just couldn’t stay away! 😂

Some unexpected alone time opened up, and as I sat there thinking about what I wanted to do with it, one thought kept popping into my head…

“FREE TIME! I KNOW… I’LL GO ON A RUN!” 🤯🏃‍♂️

Wait… WHAT?! 😂

I honestly couldn’t believe it. There was a time when running was the LAST thing I wanted to do with my free time. Now, it was the first thing that came to mind.

That was a big moment for me. Not because I ran a certain distance or hit a personal record, but because something had changed. I was actually choosing to do something I once avoided—and looking forward to it!

And you know what? It was exactly what I needed. 🙌

🥊 This is one of the things I love about martial arts, too.

When you stay consistent, keep showing up, and give yourself the opportunity to grow, things begin to change. Your mindset shifts. Your confidence builds. And the things that once felt like a chore can become something you genuinely look forward to.

Progress isn’t always about hitting a new goal. Sometimes, it’s realizing that you’ve become a different version of yourself along the way.

Keep showing up. You never know when the thing you used to avoid will become the thing you choose. 💪

🥋 SOME DAYS, TWO MILES FEELS LIKE TEN. 🏃‍♂️

Sometimes two miles feels easy. You get out there, find your rhythm, and before you know it, you’re done.

And then there are days like today. 😅

Today, those two miles were NOT easy. I had to dig deep, pull myself together, and fight through every step to get it done. But I did it. And sometimes, that’s the real victory.

💥 The same is true in martial arts.

Some days, you walk into class feeling strong, focused, and ready to go. Other days, everything feels harder. Your energy is low, your mind is somewhere else, and every drill feels like a challenge.

Those are the days when showing up matters most.

It’s not about being perfect every day. It’s about learning to push through, adapting when things get difficult, and proving to yourself that you can keep going—even when it’s not easy.

At Focus Mixed Martial Arts, we train more than our bodies. We build discipline, resilience, confidence, and the ability to keep moving forward when things get tough.

🥊 Some days you feel unstoppable. Other days, the win is simply not giving up.

Keep showing up. Keep putting in the work. One step, one round, one day at a time.

🏃‍♂️ MONDAY RUN!

I’m sure I’m not the only person who “sometimes” has a rough Monday. 😂

Some Mondays you wake up ready to take on the week. Other Mondays… it takes a little more effort just to get yourself moving.

For me, one thing that helps is getting outside and putting in some time for myself.

Today was one of those days where I had to get out of my own way and just give in to what I already knew I needed.

A run.

Not because I had to.
Not because I was trying to prove anything.
But because I know how much better I feel when I take a little time to take care of myself.

And once I got moving, Monday started feeling less like a blocker and more like a side thought.

That’s something I see in martial arts too.

Sometimes the hardest part of training isn’t the workout—it’s getting yourself through the door. Once you’re there, you start moving, focusing, breathing, and suddenly that thing that felt so difficult doesn’t seem quite as big anymore.

So here’s my Monday reminder:

Pick yourself first.

Take a little time to move.
Take a breath.
Clear your head.
Do something that makes you feel better.

Then see how much further you can get with everything else.

🥊 Train your body. Clear your mind. Take care of yourself.

🏃‍♂️🌅 SATURDAY MORNING RUN — ONE OF MY FAVORITES

Saturday morning runs have become one of my favorite runs of the week.

Why?

There’s nowhere I have to be afterward. 😂

I can take my time, get outside, run at my own pace, and enjoy the morning without feeling like I’m racing the clock.

Then I get to come home, make breakfast for the family, and spend time with my true motivation. ❤️

That’s probably one of the biggest things I’ve learned since I started running again.

It’s not always about the miles.

Sometimes it’s about creating a little time for yourself so you can come back feeling better, more focused, and more present for the people who matter most.

Running has become part of my routine in much the same way martial arts has.

🏃‍♂️ Running challenges my endurance and clears my head.
🥊 Martial arts challenges my body and keeps me focused.
❤️ Family reminds me why I keep doing both.

Different kinds of motivation—but they all help me keep moving forward.

And honestly, there’s no better way to finish a Saturday morning run than coming home sweaty, hungry, and ready to make breakfast. 😂

🥊🏃‍♂️ NOT EVERY DAY IS EASY.

Not every run feels good.
Not every workout feels strong.
Not every martial arts class feels like your best class.

And that’s okay.

Some days you wake up motivated and ready to go. Other days, getting out of bed is the hardest part of the workout.

I’ve been learning that consistency doesn’t mean having a great day every day. It means continuing to show up—even when the day isn’t going the way you planned.

Running has taught me to keep putting one foot in front of the other.

Martial arts has taught me to stay focused, adjust, and keep working through the difficult rounds.

Life is going to have difficult days too.

You don’t have to conquer everything at once.

Sometimes the goal is simply:

Show up. Take a breath. Do what you can. Keep moving.

Tomorrow is another opportunity to try again.

🥊 Train your body. Train your mind. Keep moving forward.

🏃‍♂️ WEDNESDAY RUN — HUMP DAY! 💪

Wednesday is here, which means we’re officially over the hump! And what better way to get through the middle of the week than by getting a run in?

Wednesday run: IN! ✅

Some days getting started is easy. Other days, you have to convince yourself to get out the door. But once you’re moving, you remember why you started.

That’s one of the things I’ve been learning through running—and it’s the same lesson I’ve learned through martial arts:

You don’t always need motivation. Sometimes you just need to start.

A run builds endurance. Martial arts builds endurance, focus, discipline, coordination, and confidence. Both challenge you to keep going when things get uncomfortable.

And there’s something satisfying about getting your workout done in the middle of the week and knowing:

I still have the rest of the week to keep moving forward. 👊
